@1kjn+1hALKHdm - Not a stretch at all. Keep your head in the sand over there on the east coast or wherever you are. Everyone knows only people who like to get ripped off and old boomers go to stores and even that is rapidly changing.

Corporate store counts have been reduced year after year, it’s a fact. Verizon doesn’t need corporate stores any longer. Look at all of the wireless companies that have popped up in the past 5 years that are online only. Visible is a great example. Less corporate stores and handing over the responsibilities to indirect, Best Buy, Walmart, etc just makes sense. Less overhead = higher profits. It’s basic business 101

Go look at the corporate door counts over the years. Does down every single year. A few token new doors to flatter execs (Miami Miami Miami) don't mean anything

These new stores you speak of. Are the truly new stores in a new area with newly hired employees or are they relocated current stores? From what I've heard is that they do want to close the mall stores and move them to stand alone...if it's a busy area or there are really no other Corp stores around that area...they need to keep a few corporate stores around, for when the AR stores dont feel like doing something. I know of a few that just got straight shut down and folks lost their jobs and I know of less, but some that relocated the store with its existing employees.

@1cdp+1hALKHdm Saying we do this all the time is a bit if a stretch. Certain areas of the country more so then others. Can’t even compare West coast to East as we all know East rarely sees this happen. We even have mall locations that still have corporate stores. It was said that those would all be shuttered or turned into resellers. Never happened. Leases renewed blah blah. It doesn’t happen as much as some may talk about it on here. BTW nobody ever brings up the new corporate retail stores that have opened.

@tzf+1hALKHdm - I'll tell you how it makes sense because we do it all the time. Verizon has a lease they want to get out of. They will pay the indirect to take over a location for the remainder of the lease. If the indirect does not do well, they simply close when the lease is done. Its a win win for the indirect getting free doors and Verizon who wants out of retail and wants to reduce headcount. We do this all. the. time.

This is old news and part of any business cycle things like this happen. Do you really think given the current state of economic affairs any business is going to want to expand there retail foot print and take that cost on. A location moving from direct to indirect is not going fix the staffing problem which is effecting all business in Merica. Please tell me how this makes any sense.
