Winning isn’t Everything

More validation that the Olympic message is off the mark was the medal stand for the Womens Gymnastics Floor competition. The show of respect for the Brazilian gold medalist was way more inspiring than “am I a bad person?” Culturally, Nike has lost the mindset of a champion and it’s showing up in every aspect of the business.

@1joz+1tRL2wrc What you said accurately describes how unfair it is to work in corporate America these days....

Winning isn't for everyone. We can't all be a winner like JD, jet setting around Europe like royalty while we file for unemployment and wonder if we can make our mortgage payments

the full campaign is the opposite of "doing the right thing"... i.e., bringing people along, encouraging more adoption of sport across communities, generations, etc., its not inclusive coz truly not everyone can be a winner with Nike's POV or Sports Bodies' POV. Winning is when one overcomes a challenge. Winning is when one meets the goals. Winning is also attempting. Winning is also a commitment to continue even with no medals or trophies. So yes, winning is for almost everyone. Nike doesn't get it anymore.

And yeah, Winning is adopting a full hybrid way of working. Winning is not laying off teammates to meet #s. Winning is not self-focused and self-promoting agendas. Winning is not 'bad leadership'.

Nike is a BIG loser.

I don’t like the ad but I also don’t think the message is that bad. What’s missing from the ad are actual winners… it also doesn’t help that the company is doing the opposite of winning and telling Wall Street that it won’t be winning for awhile.

The Swoosh has become a symbol people want to avoid.
