Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Retirement Benefits?

Does Nike offer any retirement incentives? What are the requirements for eligibility? Searching the HR website and coming up with nothing. I recall there used to be some kind of point system for “Gold Badge” status, is that at all related?

Been here for 13 years and thinking about developing the exit strategy.

OP here, no stock options for me. Just one of the peons doing the work as an IC. So outside of the lifetime discount/employee store benefit thanks to my over 5 years of service, it sounds like my retirement benefits equate to effectively nothing. More fruitful option is to sandbag until terminated???

I also think once you retire you can still use the workout center.

@1iyd you aren't missing out on options as they have been worthless for years

55-59 with 5 years of service you keep your options and they vest at the same time they would have if you stayed employed.

60+ with 5 years of service all your options vest immediately.

normal rules for options apply based on vesting dates.

under 55 or < 5 years of service you get nothing.

Deferred comp plan depends on your grade, so it's not a simple calculation that applies to all

All comments regarding retirement points are not true. Lifetime employee discounts are for any employees who’ve worked for 5 years or more. Only way stock options owners benefit is from reaching age 55. Retirement points don’t matter.

@1jkn Most of us who work our tails off do NOT get stock options. I’d estimate that fewer than 20% of corporate employees get those. Which is why it’s maddening to see people here talk about stock options like they’re just a normal thing that everyone gets.

you get some accelerated vesting of stock. Pretty much the only tangible benefit. There is also some special treatment around deferred compensation.

There are benefits to stock treatment as well if you qualify for retirement and it depends on your age. Suggest reaching out to People Solutions and they can send you the information

I left Nike last year after 20+ years. The point system was still in place at that time. The requirement was 60 points with 1 point for each year of your age and 1 point for each year of service to Nike.

If you meet the 60 points and retire you and your family list members get to keep your access to the employee store and access to Swoosh.com. You cannot modify your family list after you leave so triple check it. I did confirm after you leave you have no access to guest passes.

Other than this I am not aware of any additional benefits for retiring from Nike.
