Why do a survey if they are going to say, "Too bad!" no matter what???

Rhe survey about return to office was an insult. Most of us don't want to return and the email that cane out today basically says, "Too bad. We're better together. So tough."

While Nike "leadership" are standing their ground on return to the office, they will very soon realize that it is not a smart, responsible, or even feasible plan given the trajectory or COVID infections, hospitalization, and even death - aggressively upward. Watch this space - no way we are going back in January.

Nike has never given a cr-p about what their employees think. The surveys are a joke and the company' senior leadership sees the average employee as "the help". Very similar to their house keepers.

I made such a good decision bailing out of that dump a few years back. Nothing has changed, in fact sounds even worse :D

After being an ETW at Nike, I have slightly become more socialistic. A union would absolutely improve things.

The negatives of being a " contractor" are high vs the rewards

No holiday pay
Told to file for unemployment
lower pay than your peers
Second class citizen mentality

I can't think of another company I've worked for that pulls this kinda of sh-t... its Abusive....

@1hnq I don’t think that post came from an HR plant. I think the whole “this person is a Consultant/HR plant” excuse gets overblown and overused on this site in an attempt to discredit people with opinions and viewpoints other people don’t like. It’s a version of if you don’t like the message then distract and deflect by attacking the messenger. Do you really find it hard to believe that some people aren’t putting in full work days while working from home? I’m not putting in full work days either but in my case it’s not due to laziness. It’s because with the reorg I’m not even 100% sure what I’m supposed to be doing. I’ve asked my manager but he doesn’t know either. As a result a lot of days I don’t have much work to do. I know several people like @1umu. The only thing that surprised me about that persons post is that they so blatantly admitted it. Most of us who don’t have much to do aren’t exactly advertising that fact for obvious reasons.

Contrary to popular opinion, professionals can be in unions too. There are several examples of this. Like the screenwriters guild, RNs, aerospace engineers as well. The fact that corporations spend as much as they do to balk any efforts at organization should be enough of an indicator to make them worth looking into.

People have been complaining that Nike underpays by about about third, so instead of a paycheck that only competes against your bills, you could actually get a wage competitive with the general market. Unionized professionals tend to make 20% more than non-unionized on the average. It could also get a handle on the constant reorganizations and reallocation of resources to the new capability centers. I would vote yes if it was offered to me.

LOL @1umu! Dude I don’t know whether to be angry with you or whether to applaud your brutal honesty. There are more people like you than some are comfortable admitting. I’ve long thought my own manager isn’t doing much of anything most days. Nobody ever sees any actual work from him. Just talk about how terribly busy he is. LOL!

I love how HR always comes in to make ridiculous comments that attempts to make employees look bad and lazy. At least try to hide it better. @1um, if you feel that way, why are you even on here? And what area of the company are you in? That is NOT my experience. I am working 40 hours and have been more productive because of less wasted time.

I don’t want to go back either but it isn’t because of Covid. It’s because over the last two years I’ve enjoyed working no more than 2-3 hours per day without anyone actually knowing that. And no I’m not being sarcastic. Just honest. Most days I can do what I need to do in a few hours. Some days I can do almost nothing. I only need to check my email on my phone every 30 minutes or so to see if anyone needs something. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. For years there has been study after study showing that most office workers don’t do more than a few hours of actual “work” each day. It’s just much easier and far more pleasant to slack at home than it is on campus. Being back on campus will mean I now have to turn my 2-3 work hours into close to 10 hours. It’s massively inconvenient to the lax routine I’ve established over the last two years.

Some of you will feign outrage at what I just wrote when in reality you’re doing the exact same thing yourself. So please save your moral indignation for someone who cares. My entire life has been made much easier by working from home and I’m not producing any less work than I did when we were in the office. Which is what should really matter.

I’d love to tell you all I’m going to look for another remote job but keeping on the honesty theme I’m too lazy to even do that. Like all of you I’ll return to the office, complain under my breath and fondly remember the work from home pandemic days when I had a lot more free time and I didn’t have to pretend that I actually liked showing up to campus every day.

Frustrating is right! I do not want to leave Nike, my team, or the people with whom I work. However, I am afraid that I must because going back to the office will significantly increase the chances of bringing home the virus, which would put my partner’s life in grave danger given the underlying health issues my partner has! Yes, we are both vaccinated but that is not a full proof vaccine. Sad call I must make but ultimately an easy one to leave.

I did feel good about going back to the office but now with Omicron and a family member who is extremely sick I don’t see why we are doing this. Other then tax benefits for the company of course. I love my team but am looking for remote now

What I will never understand is why January, why the dead of winter? Okay sure keep us home where we are all safe for nearly two years, then force us all back together in the middle of cold and flu season. Now we can all pass around Covid AND colds. We also don’t have the option to sit outside to spread out, since it will be cold. Frustrating! Just wait till spring at least.

Yeah that was a ridiculous email. Thanks for the feedback but we don’t care so see you Jan 10. Don’t take any of the surveys. They don’t listen and they are not anonymous. Most employees can see through leaderships fake responses. Such a disconnect.

Completely agree! I would like to know how many people (the number, not %) that responded to that survey. Data is so easily manipulated. Was it 78% of 100 people that were proud of Nike’s vaccination policy.
