Unfortunately, the normal before Covid was attendence in office, unless you were a remote staff member. You could request work from home days, and for the most part they were granted. FB's designated Friday WFH day may not work for everyone, and it certainly would be appreciated if there was some flexibility.
FB is not the only 'leader' who is mandating RTO. Too many leaders from other companies are sticking it to their employees as well.
From an employee perspective, I am more willing to go above and beyond when I feel like a respected adult. During Covid, I could guarantee that I would always be on time and not stuck in a traffic jam. I could work until 5 p.m., start dinner, and come back and work some more. Because there is no respect and flexibility from FB and his cronies, I don't have the motivation to be flexible with my family time.
