Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Tempe 32 hour weeks?

Looks like Tempe just went to 32 hour work weeks. Cut 8 hours out of everyone’s check. RUN to the hills, run for you life.

HON has a long history of being tone deaf, not just MM and his Porsche. Wasn't it Gillette who used to park his high dollar sports car by the 2102 turnstile during the pay cut of 2009, was told it wasn't good optics and continued to do it anyway. Then think of the HR Karens announcement earlier this year on the same day as RIFs announced. Let's not forget that DA $500 wine either. Arrogant, self absorbed and tone deaf. These are not leaders.

32 hours and above still qualifies for benefits, but I haven’t heard about this from anyone I know. Of course, all the people I knew at Tempe were already RIF’d and there’s no one left to ask.

@3wij+16jcD8m1 Just an FYI not all hourly lowly Band 2’s are exempt from furloughs or allowed overtime. Some of us have been furloughed 3x’s already, watched co-workers be laid off and expected to now cover their jobs as well. All in the same 40 hours. The job market is not the same for us as it is for the engineers we work with and if you are over 45 it’s basically non - existent. So can we just all agree this s—s for everyone and what the tone deaf Dipsh*t upper management does with the bonus he’ll still get is a story as old as time. The old “Mike, I’ll bet you $1000 you can’t tell me how much a gallon of milk costs”

I'm not buying anything but necessities. I've sold my home project truck and my car to tighten the belt. We're not going on a family vacation this year. We eat out on special occasions only: birthdays and anniversary. I shop for food when things are on sale.

The hourly workers are still getting as much overtime as they want and are exempted from unpaid furloughs. The company has put up $10 Million in relief funds for them. They're putting food on the table just fine. We "salty engineers" are still expected to work 45+ hours each week with no additional compensation, loss of merit raises and three weeks of unpaid furlough (so far) and a 50%+ layoff rate. To top it off, MM goes and buys a car that costs significantly more than what I make in a year. And you call me a hypocrite for calling out MM's luxury spending while telling us rank and file how wonderful we are as he's laying off thousands of employees? What's wrong with you? Good leaders are in touch with their people. They know that being the boss is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of the people in your charge. They don't abdicate their responsibilities when a crisis comes around. And they sure as hell don't slap their people in the face with arrogance and incompetence by doing exactly what MM just did.

So back to the actual subject at hand. Can someone verify if this is fact? When will this occur at Tempe? Is it for hourly, salaried employees, both? Any specific details on this for those that have been out of the loop? Thanks

All the salty engineers complaining he spent money on himself. I'm sure you are all not buying things while hourly workers can barely afford food on their tables.

Hypocrites

Listening to MM in the town hall last week was a real joke. Trying to convince everyone he has saved Aero. Laughed at his Q&A "softball" questions that were prepared with answers in advance by our rocking communications team. He couldn't even read them properly off his cheat sheet. Dumb a–.

As someone else already stated, the main reason AERO is in such bad shape can be directly connected to MM's complete mismanagement of ISC when he was the "leader". Our past dues skyrocketed under his reign. His response? " Well the past dues would be even higher if I wasn't here". Good one, mad dog. HON's response? A promotion to AERO president where he can finish the job of sinking AERO and shutting the doors for good.

While he's cutting heads by the hundreds, this goldbricking scumbag is buying himself expensive rich guy toys. Sure, he's got the right to do it, but the optics are terrible. I have to imagine some of the people he RIFd have kids and are now concerned about keeping them fed, keeping clothes on them and a roof over their head while this j–koff is buying expensive toys for himself. A real scrooge.

It's inappropriate, as a leader spend, to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a car while laying people off and the telling the remaining employees that the company is on on hard financial times and "difficult decisions" have to be made. It's just like when Obama spent a small fortune of taxpayer money to vacation at Martha's Vineyard while the Great Recession was in full swing. It shows that a leader is out of touch, lacks integrity, and doesn't care about the people they're supposed to be leading.

That would be a start. I wouldn't mind some sackcloth and ashes while he's at it.

In all seriousness, anyone who can afford to blow 120k on a car has too much money.

MM is still drawing a salary and whichever he spends it is entirely up to him although, it may draw ire from people’s perception. What do you guys expect him to do? Draw no salary and live off as a vagabond and expect him to lead the mess that is Honeywell Aero?

@fxn: Arizona requires benefits to be paid at 30 hours or more worked per week.

Great idea. Long time Honeywellers can just cut back on the 8 hours they spend each week gossiping with coworkers and just get paid for real work.

Question is, Will this work same as furlough where when u hit 32 hours, u are mandated to turn off all company assets, or will they still push you to get things done and still work 40-50 hrs but just pay for 32

Does this apply just to hourly, or engineering as well? Any clue if they might do this at other sites?

A new Porsche, eh? Did he get rid of his polished Cobra? Only a complete scumbag would buy himself a new sports car in the middle of a pandemic as he slashes thousands of people from his division.

For anyone upset about their 20% paycut next week, just know that our great leader Mad Dog just bought a brand new $120K Porsche. Remember who you are making sacrifices for!

HON prefers 32 hour work weeks as opposed to just furloughing people for a full week. This way the employees don't qualify for any unemployment, which HON has to contribute to. This way HON gets the savings AND they don't have to pay any unemployment. Why would employees tolerate this? They should just get themselves fired and go on unemployment.

At this point any employee thats making $20/hr or less is better off working for In-N-Out burger.

Good question, probably not. You will find out later when it’s all gone. They will still take the money out of your check though.
