Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I bet TCs next CEO then

As this new email from JD..

I'm personally excited. He seems best fit to be the next CEO.

TC used to report straight to MP, so this is giving his old job back. Except JD is a very different person from MP and I doubt it's a role that will work out for TC, who is likely in retirement mode for a while now.

Also @1hbw+1trqBLjc berating someone for not knowing who TC or anyone is, is uncalled behavior and an indication that the koolaid is up to the eyeballs. This is what Nike does right, they brand and market athletes externally, and also their own people and stories internally. Bowerman was a coach who wanted his athletes to run faster. Prefontaine was a guy who wanted to beat records. It's not much more than that and creating legends out of these things is just want Nike does to story-tell. Same thing with TC, what's his biggest contribution in the last... decade? No disrespect to his institutional knowledge, but yeah, no point idolizing folks just cos Nike told you to.

This is just reshuffling the leaders that got us into this mess. JH has been in innovation for years and been the right hand man to TC for quite some time. What innovation have we put to market that have created any growth or energy? This is why I'm not sure we're going to turn things around because the solution is not just getting rid of JD. We need wholesale changes at the ELT level and their cronies, which won't happen.

@1hbw+1trqBLjc Knowledge of the company? Pleaaaaaaase!!!!
As a gen z, I do not breathe swoosh. I am here to do my job, get paid, go home..... Knowledge of the brand??? Fu-k off for God sake.... You think Nike is god? Nike is just a corporate like many others and all they do is they sell shoes. That is it! I just do not get why some people are so hyped about it! I see people who have swoosh license plate for their cars, tattoo of swoosh on the leg and swoosh banners in their bedroom. How disgusting

To the poster “who has never heard of TC…”. He’s a legend. And the fact you don’t know who he is, says a lot about your knowledge of the company and brand history. Maybe that’s one of the problems plaguing nike - newer employees that don’t have a clue.

Didn't they give AC the same title when they sacked him from the COO role? I read the email today as TC reducing day2day involvement on the way out.

TC is a legend. A solid leader and has given so much to the company over decades. Pipe down on hating on people that build this place and stick around trying to keep it on the rails

TC has been rumored for years now as retiring. This isn't a CEO bid. HoN just consolidated more power taking over AIC.

Very unlikely, OP. "Senior Advisor" is a title given to people who are retiring, but not immediately exiting, trying to save face, not for someone who is vetted as next CEO.
