Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon is mulling over temporary wage increases

I guess it would make sense for them to give most employees a temporary hourly increase and then review the economy every 6 months or so. I don’t agree that the economy will get better and prices will go down. So let them try it out because what will start as temporary will end up staying permanent. More to come in the next few weeks.

No way verizon is raising wages. That would mean they are trying to take care of their work force. Not a verizon priority anymore. We are expendable.

They don't care about you. Its shareholder value when they save 50% on labor.

@1gfi+1h9RuMvJ If that is true and they end up getting any type of hourly wage increase then that would be a game changer for me. No doubt everyone would want to go union at that point.

If they want high performance and to retain the few good, long-term employees they have left, they will.

Funny, the union stores in the PNW are bargaining and a 33% increase to base pay for all of retail is on their list of requests.

They may do this after they “reallocate resources” or just cut people in certain stores.

Wow, you speak as if the only people that work for this company deals with sales. There are plenty that could use an increase in pay that don't deal in sales, but to he** with them right?

They could always just compensate us properly for sales? Have they thought of or tried that? I agree though, needs to happen. 0%-4% raise this year isn't keeping up or cutting it. Plus they are raising prices on all plans so let some of that trickle down.
