Thread regarding CVS layoffs

What is my job title???

I got hired as a pharmacy technician. I got thrown in with practically no warning, I was never allowed to do my modules (the manager did them for me, which was upsetting) and I thought I was doing great because they all said I was. I understand that we have to cross train, but I only work 15 hours a week. And I’m only working in the pharmacy one shift a month now. I paid for the license. I loved it. And I am driving like 45 minutes to do it. Am I just a cashier now? Because I could do that anywhere...can I at least request a transfer without getting in trouble? I just want to do the job I got hired for and I feel like I’m being used.

I’d transfer to a store where you can be a technician & get trained.

This happened to me too. Totally falsified. I no longer work there, but have the proof.

Okay. I will absolutely do that. Thank you so much. This has been scary for me. And I love the job so much, and had such high hopes that this has all been really upsetting and disappointing. I thought I would be helping people. Or that we all would. It’s one thing to be scared just for me. It’s another to risk anyone else. I truly appreciate your candor.

I wouldn’t worry about the retaliation. Once you call advice and counsel you are protected and you can claim any action against you is because you called which is against policy and the law in many states. Also not reporting this is almost just as bad and puts lives in danger. If you cause any kind of errors and they pull your training transcript, you can’t claim you didn’t know how because you weren’t trained. Then what Luci? The manager did my modules? The first thing they’ll say is why didn’t you tell us that when it happened and you can find yourself in just as much trouble. Please call advice and counsel immediately.

Check your time sheets/paystubs. Did they pay you TR7 hours code? If so they committed payroll fraud as well.

I am also a manger and this makes me sick. I work so hard to make sure my people are trained to be successful and to know there are managers (and in this case a pharmacist who is just as guilty) pulling this kind of stuff is unacceptable. You need to call advice and counsel. It sounds like this is a miserable environment run by a “leader” with no integrity or basic common sense. You will be doing your fellow colleagues, customers, and the company a huge favor.

that’s a bad situation - I’m a manager and that’s not the right corners to cut - they are allowed tr 7 hours to train u - and my guess is they wasted those too - u need to call advice and council

I don’t understand why they would hire so many technicians, and then not let them work. If there is no demand, why would they hire so many of us? I understand we need to be trained up front, but the majority of my time is there. I’m always willing to help out, and I always come in when someone else
calls out, but I am afraid of asking for a transfer. And if I’m afraid of even that, I don’t think I’m up for the possible retaliation that might come with getting the manager fired. They didn’t let me have any time to do them in time and knowing they screwed that up arranged to do them for me. I wasn’t comfortable with that but it was glossed over, and the Pharmacist said not to worry that she would teach me everything. When that didn’t happen, then it felt serious. I really wanted this job. I would stick it out if I knew the cross training was going to end at some point, or I could at least work as a technician half the time. It’s like I got demoted and nobody told me.

First, how did the manager complete your modules? They would need your password. If they did your modules call advice and counsel has they should be terminated. You will need to be retrained afterwards

Second, they need to reimburse you for your license. The renewals are on you but the initial licensing is on CVS

As far as hours worked etc that’s all about demand. If they don’t have hours you and you can’t get what you want them I suggest reaching out to neighboring stores to see if you can pick up hours. If you are good and they like you then ask for a transfer
