Anybody else getting tired of being expected to keep pressuring a customer into a sale even after he or she said no, repeatedly? When did this become a regular part of our job? I basically have to harass people for a living and there's nothing I can do about it if I want to keep my job.

Read the posts. Team members are clearly being pressured to push products onto customers who have not asked for them, for goals and revenue. It isn't just tolerated... it’s incentivized.
You can close your eyes if you like but something tells me that you understand it. Actually, that something was you.
In my experience, we don’t actually have a sales pressure environment at all. In fact, the pendulum has swung so far the other way, managers are too timid to hold their team accountable for much more than showing up to work on time. Bankers are not having quality conversations to truly get to know their customers and provide advice and guidance and yes, products and services that would make a difference for their customers. Bankers and managers alike have been reduced to order takers and quite frankly, many are checked out. I have often walked into an empty branch to literally see bankers with their feet on their desk and looking at their cell phone. What about calling on small businesses who are suffering because of covid? What about reaching out to your customers you have spoken to recently to follow up on something they mentioned was important to them? If that’s sales pressure to you, you have a very warped view of what bankers really do.
We will go under as a bank if we don’t get back to business. That means building relationships and part of that is connecting customers to what we have to offer. Nothing wrong with that.
I just don’t believe anyone who says they are feeling sales pressure. It’s just not happening out there. If you think this is pressure, I think it’s time to get a different job. Try working at another bank—they would be happy to fire you for not reaching goals. At WF? We have no goals!!! You have it so easy. Stop crying.
Speak up to the ethics line? The OCC reported 4+ years of employee complaints about sales violations went unheard from exactly those reports and there was widespread firings for non-compliance with not meeting sales goals. Oh wait. It’s different now on the Ethics Line. Rigggggght. 🙄
Everyone should know the raise your hand process at this point. You must speak up for it to stop.
Trolls !! If this is actually happening in a branch and you are participating then who is the problem ? This is clearly just an attempt at raising negative attention through rumor creation. Either you are a bad employee or a liar. Either way - go work somewhere else.
Apparently past is prologue... you can see that unethical Wells sales pressure will never end. This is why it is so important that we fully divest ourselves of all businesses, shut down gracefully and do no more damage to our customers and the banking system.
OP, do what we do best....
And that is....
Open a fake account for them.
So, basically any bank in the US? Got it.
There's a variety of sources you can contact for this. It is not tolerated I assure you. It is not wanted nor supported. Raise your hand. Hopefully you have evidence such as in writing or a witness. He said she said isn't enough unfortunately
I would notify the OCC immediately. WFC has changed some things around but the pressure is still on to make as much money as possible at all costs.
I have friends in a department which is supposedly a service center, not a profit center. Guess who gets the bigger bonuses and job promotions: those who provide the best service, or those who deliver the highest profits each month. It may not be in writing anywhere, but the drive to bring in the bucks, however you can, is still alive and well.
Raise your hand. Its not happening everywhere. If its happening anywhere we need to stop it now
That’s still going on? Sorry to hear. That’s exactly how the fake account problem got started.
I rarely go into a branch, but if I have to I start out by saying “Hi, I’m a team member (although I guess now I had better switch to employee), and I need ....
that never fails to stop the hard sell in it’s tracks. Otherwise the poor teller seems desperate to get me into the clutches of a banker.
What a terrible job. I would be fired the first day.
Bank of America whom I bank with does that, too. Everytime I go to the branch, it's almost harassing.
What do you care? Make that money
Stop talking and make that money. Do your job
That would be the reason I never set foot in a branch.
As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired..... Always Be Closing
