Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

As long as you're a VP, you don't need to follow the rules.

https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2021/02/27/resell-nike-hebert-west-coast.html

I usually turn a blind eye to this stuff as I enjoy my job, but.....Seriously?!?!?! AH and Nike brass just letting this occur with no repercussions or even shutting it down? Also he is just "finding" these shoes in abandoned warehouses? This is kind of bizarre.

Double standards. Hypocrisy. Elitist culture. I've

Is this VP just naive as heck and thinks her kid isn't doing something that would get ANY OTHER of us wage slaves fired or definitley scared as sh– to get fired What fantasy delusion land is this?

It always cracks me up, no matter the real details when an exec departs immediately the story is always the same. Like “they needed more time with family”, “it was their decision”, “decided to retire, today, immediately”. Clearly AH was involved. They probably did fire her, but that narrative doesn’t help Nike does it? No. So same old lies. I quit a few years ago btw and was thrown a party lol 🙂

Watch the YT video “Sneaker Bots made this 19yo a fortune selling shoes” her kid talks about how he “gets a deep discount” and brags about his business model in detail. His operation is the new DTC model, direct to consumer through resellers, bet all the brick and mortar we left behind in NA is p-ss-d! He straight up admits his Discord group is multiplying the issue his moms App is up against?! I'm gonna pull up a seat for this one!

Who are the kids working for Joe? He's got photos of workers helping him out. Other executive kids?

You can speculate with a business like this, he's not hiring randoms. He's involved with people he knows likely...

classic narcissist sh– every which way AND corp comms f—ed this up bad, as usual.

articles rumble before coming out & mohawk JUST happened. you think they’d be ready

initial statement. no policy violations or conflicts of interest? really. resigned on her own...with an immediate momday departure? mkay.

so much for accountability and sending a message

tip of the iceberg. more coming

HON could have seen what was on jr's IG account without having to follow it. She unfollowed as she didn't want us to see it, but she ended up being caught.

Externally she's showing people that it was no big deal. On the inside, she knows that she knew and is hoping that a bigger news story comes along to take the spotlight off her. Praying for a slow news week so HON can get the attention she deserves.

I'm sure this is a very confusing moment for you. The example you mentioned is an anomaly and a rather odd example at that. You're attempting to speculate that a Nike executive is throwing around follows to 'see what the fuss is about'...You're either uninformed or naive on the situation.

Probably both.

Or maybe HON has a son about the same age...who also may be involved...

Yeah, I'm sure HON read that Bloomberg paywall article, got to the end where AH was revealed as the Mom (still LOLing at this), and then thought..."Hey, follow 4 a follow!!"

Or, maybe she didn't. I'm going to go with Occam's Razor on this and assume her unfollowing that Instagram account right after it was reported here is a sign of guilt. If there was "no there there" then why the haste? I get that it's a bad look, but what she did makes it worse.

Maybe HON started to follow IG account after seeing the article. To just see what’s there. We don’t know. Unless you have a print screen done before the article was published. Otherwise, sorry, it’s just a speculation.

HON had internal comms work on beefing up her personal IG account as she was envious of AA at Apple. Now she's got 9k followers and we all saw that she was following West Coast Streetwear with the photos of walls of nike shoeboxes.

Don't just stop with AH, dig deeper because HON as well as many on the team in NA knew.
Now let's see what Nike does about it.

@ tgif HON followed the IG account and removed herself Sunday morning after she was outed. Shady lady indeed. We all got the screen shots of it LOL. Digital footprints are hard to erase.

HON followed the instagram account? Wasn't the email they sent out to employees signed by her?? I have friends that have worked under her who say she is always part of shady sh– but can never get fired. Hopefully this causes another look into her!!

AH purview at Nike included its SNKRS app, a destination for coveted product where shoes regularly sell out immediately, only to be resold on secondary markets. The brand spends a good amount of energy and money trying to protect the platform from bots that can help resellers buy out stock faster than any human. Bloomberg’s piece on Joe Hebert’s business describes him using bots to compromise online launches -Complex

AH was at the company 20 years - whether she quits, is fired, laid off, she’s still got her employee discount. Maybe she joins her son, his debt is her debt.

So age plus years of service gives you lifetime ee store pass. What are the chances that A.H. keeps her and her family's ee store access so jr can keep up his side hustle?
Somebody's gotta make up for the void of mommy's multi-million annual paycheck.

Or maybe HR and Legal took care of AH with a big exit package because they knew about jr's side hustle too.

Did anyone watch the DNA video of this kid flexing? He was wearing a nike face mask - did his mom get him that too?

A friend of mine from college is a reseller and knows this guy personally, said he didn’t even try to hide using his discount and was making 300k a week.

@1nxl H.ON knew because she followed him on Instagram up until earlier today.

Just speculating others on the ELT had to have known as well. If you ask me, it shows poor judgement and leadership on their parts, as well. Very hard to work for & respect leaders who turn a blind eye to their own, yet support retaliation against lower level employees who “say something when they see something”.

How did H.ON or anyone else on the ELT not know about this? So much for doing the right thing or speaking up! Hypocrites!

I’m guessing this was a bridge too far even for Nike.

That article spoke about numerous things where, if the subject of that article had a direct connection to Nike, red flags would be flying all over the place. And sure enough there was a direct connection to Nike.

Something tells me an internal investigation has already been launched. The next questions will be “Who else knew this was going on and when did they know?” Call me cynical, but I have a hard time believing the activities of this company were a secret until that article was published.

I have to say, it was insanely careless for AH to attach her name to that Amex Card. And the warehouses and trucks with Nike shoes of unknown and mysterious origin?!? SOMEONE had to know what was going on.

I’ll freely admit, AH may not have known at all about the less savory stuff. We simply don’t know. But to be as high up the corporate ladder as she was, and know your son is running a lucrative business in the “secondary” Nike marketplace? She HAD to know that was a really, really bad look.

Today Nike said AH “decided to step down”. I guess that’s one way to phrase it. At least it’s not quite as brutal as “Decided to retire to spend more time with family.”

Not to mention all of the rewards she reaps from having that much $$ moving through her credit card.... miles? Points? Cash back?

From someone that works at the company store and would see sketchy things like groups of people coming in and buying random sizes of whatever new release was out and would also be told that I and my coworkers were not allowed to buy said product for whatever arbitrary reason…this story is comforting

I agree, this is ridiculous. How can this be going on for so long? Why does it take journalism investigation to expose these types of business relationships and connections?? Does ELT turn a blind eye to everything because they can get away with it? It's unethical and elitism, exactly the reputation Nike is working hard to change. Or are they just a bunch on hypocrites?

The instagram page is so bad - @west.coast.streetwear - pics of loads of shoe boxes taken at AH's house and her son's face always blurred out. Stash of Mags, storage unit find?? Huge red flag.

Good riddance! I'm sure the ELT were juuuuussst about to do something about it before the story broke. Kind of makes you wonder what other unethical/illegal stuff they're up to since they wasted no time showing her the door. Are they hoping no one starts asking more questions?

So who else knew this was going on? The son was not all that discreet, and if Ann thought this was okay then she definitely had other executive team members who think this is just fine also.
