- can you work at another place while getting your severance?
- if your severance runs out before you find another job, can you apply for unemployment?
- if you choose not to apply within, does it negate your severence?
- if they release you before then Jan 9th date. are you required to "check in" or "report" to someone in that time outside of HR?

The maximum amount is on the abc site, I think it’s 184 hours, one payment, taxed at 40%
And there is maximum amount of PTO paid out only? The payout is exactly what is noted in your PTO bank on the actual last “worked week?
No I got Rif'd earlier in year and I am receiving my severance and Unemployment at the same time.. same applies if you get a job elsewhere you still get your severance
@1cke+1jCriNdM but will humana cancel your severence if you apply for UI?
KY lets you get unemployment while receiving severance. Severance is paid on same schedule as you were being paid, every 2 weeks. Health insurance etc is deducted post tax rather than pre tax from severance (will make a small difference). If you do not live in Jefferson county and worked in the office you can claim your Louisville tax back for hours not worked in the county next year (submit to HR in 2023) Don't forget this. (I was RIF'd in August) Don't forget to cash out your GO365 bucks before your last day of benefits!
No, your severance comes as your pay comes, every other week
Reading one of the post above ? You get the severance package in payments? They don’t pay it in full on last day ?
To the poster @1quc+1jCriNdM that stated there is a marketing AVP that uses racial slurs- it is up to YOU and your coworkers to band against this monster. This is a critical offense and should result in immediate termination. I would flood the ethics line with reports of this blatant behavior. Every single day. I would also contact the chief diversity officer.
@kzi+1jCriNdM, that’s funny because there’s an AVP in marketing that likes to drop the N-word but she’s still here. Humana has no class.
Some states allow you unemployment and severance at the same time.
If you had a bad manager who likes to use racial and homophobic slurs, let HR know. They may sweeten the package with a longer severance payout, extended bonus years and add RSU's to your brokerage account. This happened to a lady who worked in sales about 5 years ago, and the best part was, the sales director was let go a year later.
The previous poster is correct. One thing to add, if you contribute to the Humana sponsored 401k, your contribution will stop on your last “working” paycheck. You cannot opt to contribute from severance payments. However, you can keep your account open and manages by Schwab as long as you want as long as you have at least $100k in it (the minimum balance requirement may have changed since I was RIF’d).
- Yes you can get a job and work somewhere else while receiving your severance.
- I think this might be state specific?
- No. There are no requirements for seeking internal postings. I've even seen some associates decide not to apply, accept severance, then get another job at Humana as their severance was ending. That's my favorite play.
- I think this would be department specific. I've heard of some people needing to touch base occasionally. I've heard of others with no parameters. On the rare occasion I've seen rifd individuals have to continue their jobs up until the last day of employment. However, from everyone I've heard in this round their job duties are being removed immediately so they can focus on the job search.
Some other odds and ends. You get to keep your health insurance through the severance period. Also, on your last official check (before entering into your severance period) you will receive your PTO bank payout. The severance, however, will continue to pay out bi-weekly just like your current pay period.
