Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Years to attract a customer and minutes to lose it

I am worried that the company is increasingly losing its customers. Our leadership, though, doesn't seem too concerned about rapidly losing everything that has been built over the years?
I wish I was wrong because we all know how little it takes to lose a customer, as well as that once lost, a customer almost never returns.

I had AT&T 18m ipdsl for many years, that’s all they offer in my area. I switched to 400m Spectrum cable, the only thing that would make me switch to another provider would be fiber to the home.

I'm an AT&T employee and I can't even get T service in my out of region part of the country because T doesn't provide service here. I have to go to Verizon for LTE internet service or COX for broadband. There is a very large part of the country where T doesn't do business, what about those areas for internet to the home? T can't provide it, but other carriers can. T has its work cut out for it, it'll take years before T realizes its gains overall.

Internet and wireless phone service is becoming a commodity. The company that can figure out how to add items onto their service will win. IoT will be huge, but 5g will win that game. I see T-Mobile becoming more dominant in the near future. Verizon and T don't understand how to manage the business. Look at JS, he help Alexander Graham Bell invent phone service. That's how long that old dude has been around. Reminds me of Al Gore inventing the internet. Maybe the two of them could start a new company together.

@1cay+1glX3YhR no, I think he is awful, but neither and I going to ignore good things just because I don't like someone or the company.

Also, you calling me 'sweetie' says more about you than any of your snarky posts do.

Our prices are too high and our services are poor. So many customers still only have ipdsl available. Customers that have had service for years and we have never upgraded their area are changing to Google fiber, TMobile and Verizon home internet for less than what we charge for 6mbps.

Yet we added 691k new customers in the last quarter and churn was low.

Your words don't match reality, just what is is your bitter out-of-touch head.

Also, Revenue matters but only as in relation to costs, profits, and margin.

i.e. Revenue = $1000 Cost to make $1000 is $950 VS Revenue $500 Cost $400

It is the nature of business in today’s world. Big greedy money grab without concern for the customer. Cheat and lie rules the day.

Customers that leave for other carriers eventually make their way back to T at some point in time.'

Happy 420 to you too, dude. The only way that statement makes sense is if you're high. Like, really high.

You’re apparently too immersed in your over-indulgent 420 lifestyle and are completely clueless when it comes to mobility services! STFU and keep puffing!

The company has discontinued the bread and butter that built the company. Phone service which I understand old tech and moving to cell phones but they are not investing in the network four internet service, instead our management thinks that SHM app WiFi mapping and ETC/ETA is gonna save the customers. I don’t have much confidence in our management running this company!

I don't even think about my internet and tv billing anymore. it just works.

couldn't say when i had att lousy services even when I was an employee.

I am sure they serve all the people at the masters well though.

Losing 10% revenue, year over year. Watch where T is in 10 years, ouch!

T's overpricing is leading to the massive shredding of the customer base.

It's just the nature of this extremely competitive industry! Consumers are always looking for the best price and not too concerned with brand names. Just give me cell service for my phone or cable for my house at the least amount of billing every month, that's all!
Customers that leave for other carriers eventually make their way back to T at some point in time. It's a vicious cycle that the industry is well aware of and builds it into their pricing schemes! T isn't going anywhere just because it lost a few thousand customers, don't worry. Churn is part of the business!
