Biggest problem is the techs. They’re a bunch of backstabbing anti union clowns. They only care about themselves.

@1aus+1ov0zDUQ They can bring in whoever they want but they cannot get rid of the union members hired before the 2005(??) contract and that's the employees they want to get rid of. Bottom line is there will be no surplus and no EISP.

@1tek Call them what you want but they still pay dues. They just don't want to be part of a corrupt union. Look at who the union tells people to vote for. How's that working for you? Most of your dues goes to politicians not to efforts to make your working conditions, pay or benefits better. Wake up.

@fui Even if they did need all the people, they are not going to use the over paid union guys. They have a lot of non union folks down south and in the Midwest. Once they get as many union guys off the payroll they will bring in the non union employees to do the work. The contract doesn't prohibit non union employee doing work, it only prohibits contractors who are not employees. I know some techs in NY who chose not to be in the union even though they have to pay dues.

Yes VZB (Verizon Business) or VBG(Verizon Business Group) are where the 5000 'managers' came from that got sold to HCL for a negotiated 1 yr 'guaranteed' contract for the same salary(well technically VZB 'mgrs' are paid an hourly wage) as 2023, but the 'benefits' are HCL-driven, not VZ. VZ gets the pay and benefits off the books to slim it down for sale, HCL gets some kickback and a $2.1 billion contract, exposure and footprint in the US, and additional exposure into all of the coveted Fortune 50 customers.

There will be no surplus declared or offer made. Brightspeed is going to need all the current employees in addition to new ones. The rural broadband build out is going to take a lot of support.

They will offer a package to reduce headcount then sell it to Brightspeed.
