I was recently hired by Humana, YHA division, and have not begun work yet after several hours of unpaid training, email correspondence, credentialing, months of communication, etc. Today I was notified Humana is closing this division effective 10/31/2021 and I am being released from my contract. Good luck to all who are in the same position! Great NPs, nurses, etc. will find good places. Keep the faith!

Has anyone “opted-in” after receiving a reduction notification from Humana. If so, were you successful in finding another job within the company? If not, did you receive your severance package or did you lose it because you were offered a position that you did not like and you turned it down? I am just looking for feedback from anyone who has “opted-in” after receiving a reduction from Humana.

I was given notice today of layoff unless I apply for another position. I work for Humana at Home.

@1Pvfs+184Gi64R So what happened to the Senior Bridge employees? Senior Bridge was acquired by Humana several years ago so they are Humana associates. We’re they rif’d then?

At least three departments have been notified layoffs to be announced in two weeks. Not sure the total number but everyone biting their nails until then. This is not a rumor but a fact.

I wanted to be more specific just so people understand, the long-term care program provides care management which involves a lot of use of home health agencies which can be difficult at times so the company Decided to try to have an internal Home health agency hoping it would assist apparently it just wasn’t managed well

Hopefully everyone is caught up but they chose not to continue with senior bridge which was our own version of a home health agency and had nothing to do with Humana at home if anything it involved Humana long-term care because that program utilized the HHA but they did the right thing closed the program and made a network with another home health agency, I’m very grateful that I work for Humana and I am very sad if people are not happy But I do think it’s best to work off facts.

Humana have gotten caught up in a legal case about pay for in home care.

There is confusion in New York about a regulation over pay. If you are a 'live in care giver' the law states you can only claim 13 hrs pay. MOST providers in the State then took this to mean people who were in a patients home for 24hrs.. Say noon till noon and slept, ate and were otherwise not doing actual care work, should also only be paid 13hrs. If this rule about paying 24hrs is implemented many New York providers will go broke and close down. So it might be a win for a few aides but the real losers will be the disabled people who can't get in home care.

Humana are not accused of stealing wages.

I still work for HAH and did not hear about this but it's interesting the part that says:

"In addition to Louisville, Kentucky-based Humana, the legal battle specifically involves Humana At Home and SeniorBridge Family Companies."

I wonder what the heck is going on

Ummm...FCMs don't stay at homes for 24 hr shifts...and that is what the below lawsuit is for. This is home health aid type work, not HAH FCM

@eryc+184Gi64R I wonder if they meant In-Home, not HAH.

In case ya'll all wondering why HAH closed down there is a lawsuit since 2019 of about 200 nurses regarding stolen wages, long hours and unfair treatment. Seniorbridge is next as they are part of the lawsuit and might have to close down to save face:

If you have not looked into this as an FCM please do so and consult with your lawyer.

There is never reliable employment anywhere. Just wait a paycheck and a heads up if a RIF is coming. :)

More than rumor. Humana sold out its employees, its members and the country years ago. This is not reliable career employment.
