@xp6 We received notice in CB that we were being restructured with all divisions eliminated to HQ, so we are impacted by that as well.

Hearing all three divisions are being eliminated, regions will roll up to HQ. Nothing about CB so far.

@OP They just announced a huge restructure in Comcast Business and it sounds like most people are being laid off. This will affect thousands across the country.

@1d3 Is that how they THINK they’ll get away with renovating building with NO handicapped accessible doors, no handicapped accessible bathrooms and an attitude of GTH toward long time disabled employees too? Then they just terminate them without warning because they’re less productive because they “take too much time” trying to solve the problems Comcast has created for them. This is a cr-p company with no concern for employees in the first place. At least they keep attorneys in business.

Much more is coming. Heard that Q1 was a financial disaster. Losing tons of subscribers. Expect massive layoffs before summer. Cable CEO/Division is at loss, don’t know what to do.

Any layoffs in the Chicagoland area to report ?

60 more. Sorry to hear that, and I wish you all the best. Would you mind hsaring what department was affected, if you feel comfortable doing, and if sharing doesn't impact your terms of separation and severance?

They let N entire department go today, and out of the 60 they hired with me last year I was the only one left. Today I got my walking papers as well

What I'm hearing is that Comcast is trying to structure a new monolithic org that eliminates a lot of the redundancy between the mothership and NBCUniversal. I hear their are multiple threads of consolidation planning spanning different areas IT, Finance, HR, Cybersecurity, Advertising, etc). Provisioning intelligently for SpinCo is an extra complication.

I’ve heard similar things about layoffs coming for Comcast Advertising. We just recently had a reorg and it doesn’t make sense to keep the current sales structure. Anyone know any details on CA?

@20f+1jmmt81cx I haven’t seen anything official, only heard rumors. But they’re still working out who to layoff by March 28th. Managers haven’t been “selected” and a large group of people haven’t been notified that they’re fired.

They don’t have to file WARN when they give 6 weeks notice plus severance. Look at the requirements and you’ll see

How is it not being reported to WARN? I can tell you exactly how. They actually have hired employees in India and the Philippines pay them literally pennies on the dollar with no benefits or insurance nothing. Secondly Comcast knows the large and powerful with lots of resources so in all other cases they just simply ignore the law and do whatever they want with no consequences. They also figured that if there ever called to the carpet that they will just pay the fine and it'll be cheaper that way. That's so they can run their American employees into the ground, force them to train the replacements... Yes that's right they're forced to train the replacements.

If we continue to bleed data subs at this rate for the rest of the year, layoffs will be in the 10k to 15k range by the end of the year and then it will be in the media

Dear @19a+1jmmt81cx

I'm not disagreeing with your post about letting the media/social media know about the layoffs but, sadly, nothing will come of it as CMCSA has little choice but to outsource as the business dies. How they got around the WARN is another story.

And, respectfully, you're being a bit naive as many companies have outsourced all phases of IT to India, Brazil and at one time while at Comast we had staff in Russia.

One last thing re: why we didn't roll out fiber faster. Maybe ask EN and his team?

All the affected folks should start getting loud about this.

Call your local news agencies, post this to r/layoffs on Reddit and on X. Spread the word on LinkedIn.

All the while, heres where they are sending our jobs:

how is this is not public is amazing. I'm in NED and we got obliterated. Everyone is now scrambling around trying to apply for jobs, but its probably too late. Competition is ki-ling comcast. I bet they're looking at losing 200-250k data subs in the quarter. Market expansion and fiber should have been done 20 years ago. we're late to the part and paying for it big time.

Layoffs for several in WA, including business analysts (who work for HQ). According to upper management, layoffs aren't over. More to come and I don't know anyone in WA that kept their job, upper managers were laid off too, including people who were promoted and got a raise for exceptional work. Many managers were blindsided (I was called a week before this took place from a higher up who was devastated because they fought to keep most of their team and this time they were told "there is NO fighting this"). This needs to go public.

this is a sound move. The only way to keep the existing internet customers. If the price goes too high for internet, people will just cancel or shift to at&t. hopefully IT gets cut the most as it has no impact on any sales. IT is the highest cost and produces nothing of any value.

The only firings publicly announced was Joy Reid and some msnbc folk . Comcast has not publicly released laying off 1000's across America. I have not seen 1 WARN notice in affected states.

My sympathies to all of those directly affected, as well as their friends, colleagues, an families. My feelings aside, this feels like another step in a multi-step cost reduction plan. For example, there's still a lot of redundancy left between Comcast and NBCUniversal (HR, Finance, IT, Engineering, and Cybersecurity) to address at some point to harvest those cost savings.

where I got cut, hardly any managers were impacted, maybe less 5%. All the cuts were good people who did a lot of work. They left a lot of mid to low performers I noticed. Makes absolutely no sense at all

Mostly in-house employees, not contractors being let go. Hopefully this is an attempt to get the company’s financial situation under control and improve the stock.
Marketing, marketing support, sales support and many other groups eliminated and/or condensed.
Some of this is a roll up to HQ and it will only continue as the company fights for survival

yeah, this was posted in a thread that started on Wednesday. I was let go on Wednesday morning. It started on Tuesday when IT re org where 100s were laid off. Then, on Wednesday even more let go. Overall, I think its over a 1000 people across HQ, NED, central and west

The thread right below this one details a bit more. All divisions are affected and it looks like most contractors will be let go. There are a significant number of managers, engineers, surveyors, permitting, etc are being let go both full time employees and staff augments.

It seems like Comcast is letting mostly contractors go to avoid having to put out any public statements about mass layoffs.

We just got an email from Brian Roberts telling us how well the company is doing and that leadership is “so proud” of our hard work. Guess they need to cut jobs to keep more money to themselves.
