Has anyone had any issues taking a promotion in another dept or location? I want to start looking to make additional income, but I’m worried it will backfire and I will be out a job. Any wisdom is appreciated

I haven’t tried to get another role lately, but I’ve heard it’s taking 18 months to two years for most people.
@1fd no direction or strategy , SVP over every 9-10 people just busy micromanaging minor issues
Wealth leadership is full of a$$ ki$$ing mo--ns.
@16j Wealth is not a fun place to be, good performance will never be enough, micro-managing atmosphere and continually feeling like senior management is steering a rudderless ship. Wealth feels like a dumping ground for adding more and more expectations and responsibilities onto the associate.
Same moved to wealth and it’s been nightmare since
@15h Can you go back to your old position? I am in the same situation where my current position changed and now I am not happy but feeling trapped as not a lot of internal options- will have to start looking outside of the green machine
I agree with the last comment. I am miserable. I loved my last position and was not told realistic expectations about where I am at all, and it is chronically understaffed more than normal. Very unrealistic work and hours expectations. I am trapped. There are no internal jobs. Now I’m afraid it will happen wherever I go. It is he-l. Expected to have no life month after month.
Be careful, and only make a move if you can get a recommendation from someone you trust in the group or someone very familiar with the new manager. Some groups like my old one in FFIO simply cannot keep employees because of toxic VPs and EVPs. We had people get onboarded and walk out in as little as three months. You do not want to leave an OK job for one you’re going to end up hating.
It almost requires leader talking to leader to be able to move forward with internal moves. It seems for every open internal position there are a flood of candidates. Everyone wants to move as most are not happy in current role's and always looking for the greener grass or just plain more green in the paycheck
I regret it
Managers aren't interested in hiring from other sites, and most of these postings look like H1B/Green Card filings…particularly the ones requiring “demonstrated experience”
Very little internal mobility.
