Thread regarding SAP layoffs

High turnover is ki-ling productivity

It’s getting really hard to keep up with work because so many people are leaving. First two teammates suddenly quit, and now another key person just gave notice. Now I'm just waiting to see who's next. The constant churn makes everything chaotic and stressful for those of us still here.

It would be great if there was a chance to organise a symbolic strike (for ex. turn off your laptops for 30 min at the same time) to push the CEO and CFO to acknowledge what they keep consciously ignoring...people are giving up. Working with the layoff axe pending on your neck, listening to nonsense about riskilling (they even don't know which skills they need) , no budget for salary increases. Use employees to work on erasing their own job with some a--kissers enthusiastically supporting you...The new way is impression management with big announcements about AI (you almost don't hear them talking about customers anymore) but not really innovating, try to inflate the stock price as much as you can because this is what will bring you millions with your bonus in March. And if you fail? No worries, they will kick you with some 30/40 million severance and you can jump on the board of another company leaving ashes behind you.

@zr your comments indicate the number of years in the corporate life. What you describe is a smart MBA level theoretical model like economical models where there are only 2 products in the market kind approach.. I applaud you for your naivety and optimism and passion, having said that you should also consider that over 50 years, so many layers of management dissapeared. so the model is you decribe "one leaves and one promotes" does not equate in a high correlation, instead T4 leaves and now the position is T3. You might be living for status like "director,VP, SVP", in your community and network but I work for money so the same title with less pay grade does not help me....stop believing in those corporate models created by the beneficiary of the system instead follow the practice...

@14g Okay, you just confirmed that you are a parody.

@12b How can you think I am a parody?

I‘m simply stating the obvious: that the board is brillant, that the board is best.

@12b He's preparing for a promotion, in case, somehow, SAP find out who's who in Layoffs.com 😀

The best thing about CK-Fan is that it is probably a parody but it's so hard to tell because some people at the company actually act like this. Especially in management.

Increasing turnover is a brillant - brillant! - move by the board. And it is good for the employees. Whenever someone higher up leaves, someone can get promoted.

Brillant.

@c2 they don’t care.

@c1 Seems like everyone is at it against each other whenever I am at the office. People leaving their mess behind and not wanting to deal with the c*** culture the company has become because of these new "performance management" plans (pitting colleagues against each other). And hearing colleagues going into quiet rooms to do their job interviews. Sad to see this once great company go down the toilet. If you have a problem, be prepared to get Mumbai'd or Vietnam'd.

Sounds so dysfunctional, it’s like they don’t care and just looking for their next purchase of a company to sell another product to their clients.

This just does make sense.

Then cut staff to make their financial numbers for stock financial.

They are just grinding people into burnout.

It’s been the same story for 15 years.

Exactly, how come the results were so good? Doesn't make sense... especially because any office you walk in has a very bed atmosphere and people simply gave up and looking elsewhere. The only two happy guys are the CEO and his right hand, Mr "Like brushing teeth"

The thing that surprise me the most is for the last People Survey the result was good : it's either people are just accepting the situation with resignation because of fear of the consequences OR just responding what managers want to hear so they let them be because honesty didn't pay off previously....

my colleagues are very talented but that talent is wasted. most of us just sit on calls for the sake of being on calls. if we focused on our job duties we would be so good. it almost feel like sap is trying to make us fail. the rules change a lot too. they will say "do it this way" one week then the next week ask why you did it that way. i pride myself on being optimistic but im miserable. i only stay for the pay but i think a pay cut would be worth it. every time we do a good job they just change things and tell us what we did wrong. it is demoralizing.

For my daily work I need a network of knowledgeable colleagues. A lot of them were let go or retired. Their replacements don‘t have a clue.

People are neither pawns on a chessboard nor numbers in a spreadsheet. P24 and such always leave a mess. And now we will bleed experience at a rate of 1 to 2 percent every year. What could possibly go wrong?

The board does not know what they are doing, no matter what CK-Fan says.
