Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I do nothing but read and post on layoff.com all day wondering when my number will be called.

I obsess over CS‘s next career move and post my thoughts/hopes on this site.

I figure out how many employee benefits/perks the company can slowly take away until there is a full on revolt.

I figure out ways to cram more employees into office buildings with fewer desks/workspaces.

I plug numbers into a spreadsheet to make my boss and boss’s boss look good.

I take credit for other people’s work when it can advance my career and blame others when things go bad.

I show up at company all hand meetings and cry so that employees think I am compassionate.

@11x nailed that one. Let’s just call it the “Volunteer line for the next RIF” or “Don’t speak up portal - your voice doesn’t actually matter.” Do as I say and not as I do.

what a coincidence

Sit around and feel like I deserve a job for life despite having no marketable skill set other than getting drunk at off sites and having coffee meetings.

I lay off valuable people because a consulting firm said so, thereby decimating the culture, care, and trust of everyone left behind.

I obsess all day and night over the next color ways for the AF1/AJ1 because we don’t innovate #%$& anymore!

I walk around campus saying “yes sir/ma’am” all day because the alternative is ending up on a RIF list.

I come into the office, sign into my computer, hit the gym/soccer fields for a couple of hours, grab lunch and then head home.

I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. In a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

I only do what’s minimally required because extra effort doesn’t change my evaluation or salary since decisions aren’t decided by performance but by politics

I work most nights and weekends even after a full 40hr work week. Finances, health and house is so out of order! Trying to keep my sanity…. No wellness over here!

Crying in my car so my kids don’t see because the constant job rejections are brutal after being laid off despite years of Highly Successful performance and genuine dedication to my team and the company. As toxic as things may feel within the berm, remember there are plenty of us who wish we were still there as we try to sell ourselves in this hellscape of a job market.

I talk as loudly and frequently in meetings because I lack self-awareness and am insecure of what little value I actually create!

Come in the side door 15 min late then space out for an hour.

I make PowerPoints.

I hire people who simply do as they are told without challenging my ideas, because it reinforces my sense of authority and makes me feel good about myself.

I retaliate against whistleblowers and protect senior leaders from credible s-xual misconduct allegations

I sit in traffic and then take zoom calls
