Got laid off in slingshot during this round. Probably for the best as this was the second time I got laid off, last time I got a position in another division. Clearly they are not a good fit for people looking for stability.

@138 a "go away package"? I thought the point was made very clear (not in ATMs, of course, 1st line managers were tasked with delivering the message) that separation packages were a thing of the past. Perhaps I was mistaken.

@138 6 months of pay that you were waiting for for 4 years feels like winning to you? That's how little you value your time and satisfaction? HPE got you to work at a job you didn't like for 4 more years. I think their plan is what went off without a hitch.

@12 I didn't think I was untouchable. I have been wanting a go away package since 2021. I got 6 months worth of pay and sold all my RSU's. Took a few months off and got a better job. It seems as thoughtl the plan went off without a hitch. A WFR can be a blessing in disguise.

@10r It's like you thought you were untouchable at HPE. They've been laying off every quarter since Carly. You should have been properly prepared.

For those wondering about me (the guy cut @25 years) I was 17 years away from full retirement and 15 years away from being able to get Medicare. Health insurance without a job was $1200 a month when I got cut and I was bored without a job. Another gotcha was you have to be 59.5 years old to start drawing from you 401k without penalty.

@qd yes 25 years is a long tenure. Let’s not judge people when we do not know their circumstances. Maybe they are paying for care of elderly parents, maybe they had illnesses that accumulated debt. Losing your job isn’t easy and can be devastating to people.

25 yrs should be the mid-point of your career, not the end of your career. 🙂

Me and my whole team also. A top performing team, mind you. Makes you think, someone is pulling the trigger blindfolded.

It's been exactly two years since my WFR.
I was there 25 years. It took 8 months to get the job i wanted. I now make more money and have much better benefits.
HPE's 401k match was trash. You will find something better than a company that lays off every month and moves every job it can offshore. None of the jobs I applied for had HPE hardware.

It may take 6 months, but you will be much happier wherever you land.

Trust those of us that have been WFR'ed in the past: the grass is definitely greener over here!
