Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Americas All - Hands meeting July 29

Any thoughts on this? Members of both the Executive board and the Advisory board attending. Seems odd that advisory board members are attending.

Now that DA let the cat out of the bag, I fear the subject of the all-hands is clear.

I hope for the best for all American colleagues.

@1nn you're right and wrong...

You absolutely can fire people in FR but you have to pay them a minimum amount of money specified by law.

Big companies, usually, pay more than the minimum so employees can't sue them...

@11d you absolutely cannot fire employees in France. There’s a very strong works council and codified worker protections. You can pay them to resign but it’s a big sum.

Whatever happens will be good for SAP, because the board knows what they are doing.

They are the best. The best!

@100 I guess it all depends on the numbers for Q3.
The top 3 High cost dev centers are: US, Israel and France.

So these three centers live with the risk of getting closed if the numbers go bad because they're competing against low cost centers: Bangalore, Poland, Hungary, Brazil..

I don't think SAP can afford taking the risk of closing US dev center and keeping Canada dev centers open...Trump may not like it and create a Tariff specific to SAP (European company) especially because US didn't sign a deal yet with EU for the new Tariffs.

@100 I’m the OP and I think it is bad news too. The attendance of members from both boards doesn’t bode well. I saw the invitation and thought….Hmmm, the new campus in Bengalaru has just gone live - coincidence or not?

@ac if it was an acquisition it would not just be an americas all hands. it is bad news and the americas leadership wants the board to be there to take the blame

I doubt they even know what they’ll say. RISE with SAP is dead. Long live RISE.

Without superior product and most significantly AI capabilities, we’re as valuable as running shoes post Oktoberfest or Mardi Gras.

The beat down in Services continues.

The board is great. SAP is invincible due to the board. As long as CK is in power, SAP will grow and grow and grow.

In a few years SAP will buy Microsoft.

@eh SAP is so important to Germany that it will never let that happen (acquired).
SAP was also named the biggest company in Europe so EU won't let that happen either...

@OP It might be good news and big investment announcement, partnership or acquisition.

If it was bad news they would've sent only HR to make the announcement.
