There were articles a week or two ago
$1 billion expense cut and layoffs were probable or being discussed.can’t remember exactly. Obvious thaf LE & Safra were discussing - of course if it was not going to happen they would not have made such public statement to the media.

This was not a surprise. Tech industry is shifting -the work needs to be done - it’s going to get done outside of Oracle.

The pandemic helped alot people figure how to work differently.

Startups were created and competition grew stronger .. they have figured out how to help customers get out from under subscription easier. I’m not a tech person. I’m an investor and I read alot of articles. However it’s done it’s still expensive but competitors are not gouging customers so long term it pays off.

Oracle is not the giant corporation that has been caught with their pants down. It’s going on in other industries as well.
Many smaller companies will get the work done cheaper. They don’t have the overhead that the multi management Levels have created.
Text book: middle Mgmt gets hit.

  • Oracle especially because management will never understand that promoting people based on favoritism instead of capability was a major weakness on their part. They are top heavy with expense . They forget employees are smarter they are. Younger smarter etc. many have left and many are now getting laid off and many survived.

Management did not evolve - it was stifled. Seems like Mgmt mentality is if a smart person is terminated then they no longer exist. The quick fix was to get them out and promote the favorites and everything will be ok however they shot themselves in the foot. Because many went other places and took their Oracle training and experience to the competition and has now grown past Oracle.

Biggest mistake and it’s been since the beginning of time, Treat people well and they will be loyal. Treat people like cr-p and the company will often die and slow death.

This layoff is a huge opportunity for competition and it will prove to hurt Oracle even more.

Mgmt thinks they can control people mind games do not work - people have free will and often trying to control pushes people in a different directions.

This will be written about - Business Mgmt case study. My guess is the VPs are tech people and did not come out of business school. Upper Mgmt gave VPs very little accountability..

Same principle when a manger takes work from a subordinate and terminates the employee and uses the work for self gain maybe promoted to VP, thinking they got rid of that person . That person did not cease to exist nor did they forget the abuse that happened. Those people could come forward eventually.
While Mgmt is busy degrading employees calling them id--ts and stupid thinking many think that gives them power and they not smart enough to realize they are working to lose their own positions.
They are losing a lot of people. Had they worked with them been good managers to help people grow then the company would grow. It’s not rocket science. Positive leadership has proven to be much more profitable & negative leadership costs money.

I’ve reading a lot of the post -it’s obvious thaf Mgmt oft HR willl try redirect things and their statements are so pointed and it’s like they think that the readers will think differently since theg made such a profound statement. This is a public site - people are smarter than they them. It’s another form of abuse,, mind control. If they say it then it’s true. There will be at least one poster that will criticize my spelling grammar punctuation of word usage thinking that will deflect from this post .

Mgtmt will use whatever they can but the abuse ultimately is the problem that has caused smart people to go other places and the competion wins. Pushing and degrading people they must think that is their right and it is but ithe employees have brains that will are being used and ending up fewer people - didn’t they think -they might be hurting themselves ..fewer to manage needs fewer managers …Duh….
They did this to themselves.
