Principal after 10 years?

We must really be hurting for experienced engineers as I am seeing posts today for principal engineers who only have 10 years experience and a BS degree. They must be really good at reading GP’s?

EMIT hotshot obsession

Why are you EMIT employees so upset that BK said hotshots should go work somewhere else if they thought they would make more money? It keeps being posted about and how BK should apologize. Hotshot itself is not a derogatory term. Do you feel BK was... — read more

Why are you still working here?

Will Clinton Survive The Reorganization?

Signs are showing that EM wants to distance itself from Research. Could this be the end for sites like Clinton? Would they pull the plug even after spending $$$$$ on the Paulsboro site merger?

Highly effective way to demotivate employees

Don't be fooled, PIPs are just masked layoffs. If Exxon really cared about employees improving their performance, Exxon would do its best to motivate us. However, management has become an expert in sending demotivating messages. Even those who are... — read more

Waiting for Severance?

A lot of unsatisfied people are waiting to be let go rather than leave on their own, with the intention to get a severance package. While I understand that to a degree I have to ask is it worth it. Sure, it is nice to walk away with a certain amount... — read more

Management

I really want to think that people who rise in the company are good but I think the culture doesn’t work that way. I keep hearing stories of what people who rise do and it makes me wonder if there are any good and normal people above a couple of... — read more

Does BK not have an IT background?

Is it true that BK does not have an IT background? Lmao is that supposed to be a joke? In what universe does it make sense to be appointed head of EMIT but never have had any IT experience. How does one square that?

Dr-g Testing

Seems like a little "random" dr-g testing is a fine way to rid XOM of the "bottom" 10%. I've wondered why XOM has not done this easy way to avoid the negative image of having layoffs and still ridding itself of the dr-ggies.

PIP or PIL?

I would rather choose PIL. This seems like a much better option.

Trading Vision

We are bagging you to stay! Good opportunities will come ..lol They think they can’t hire traders just because o bonus. Our culture is horrible this need to change first. Exxon traders treat support roles like S**

Another Brazil well, another failure

Looks like Cutthroat was a dry ho-e… a colleague in exploration said it found poor reservoir and not even a whiff of hydrocarbons. We are embarrassing ourselves in Brazil. When do we say enough is enough and pull out?

PIP Strategies

Let's say I am put on PIP (hmmm), what strategies do you suggest? I am sure 90% will suggest that I jet ASAP, but let's say, life is complicated and I want to stay. What strategies would you suggest in that case - what to do, how to approach it, what... — read more

Unjustly PIPed

Stock split soon?

With google and tsla doing stock splits, will xom consider doing it sooner than later?

Here are the numbers

30 years at 55. Best 5 average $205k. Annuity + pre SS = 7,200/ mo until 62. Then pull 2.2k / mo SS, losing 1.4 pre SS from pension plan. At 65 pull about 1k/mo from previous employer of 5 years in 80s. At her 65, wife get 1.6k/mo SS. This... — read more

I urge BK to apologize for his hotshot comments

My team is losing people left and right and much of this is rooted in BK spiteful remarks against the software developers. Why does BK hold so much animosity towards software developers?

Taking job very seriously despite claiming otherwise

This is not specific to Exxon though. I noticed this elsewhere where I worked. I find it amusing when people try to emphasize that they don’t care for their job here anymore because it’s long been clear to everyone that this is no longer a place to... — read more

Headcount Goals

Given the planned asset sales and EMs smaller footprint - what is the target global headcount that EM is shooting for in 2025/ 2026? Just trying to figure out how many more years of 8% PIP we will have coupled with minimal recruiting efforts.

Attrition declined in 2022?

My group is loosing some young engineers in 2022, but far fewer than were leaving at this same time in 2021. Also no more RE left in my group so none to leave in 2022. Attrition way down? Is this typical across most groups?
