They say our "ambition" level is only 10. The rumor I heard today is everyone in EMC is up for the ROM process. It does not make any sense.
My take on Chevron
Pro: FAT FAT paychecks and I love it. Sprinkle that with work and life balance and I am LOVING it. Call me FAT & LAZY which is a good intro for the cons section :-) I enjoyed 15 years of watching my kids grow with a cushy job. And I am an expat as... — read more
Gorgon is now looking at a strike....When it rains it pours.
This all over the news here in Australia. Here it is there will be a strike....no question. They are interviewing workers and of course it sounds unbelievable but I smile and shake my head as I know it's all true. They can't drill a well in Texas... — read more
My supervisor told me to get out of Chevron. To look now regardless of ROM
My boss is one of the few competent managers I have worked with or for in all of Chevron. Highly engaged with his team and MOST IMPORTANTLY THE WORK! He took several of us out to lunch and was quite frank. He said best case scenario Chevron gets a... — read more

Selfish Question: How will the CIP be affected?
It's a selfish question given the current state of things. How is the CIP affected? Do they eliminate it for a year? Go forth as normal? Best case you would think corp modifier at a 1 given our incredible Safety performance this year.
Can we get a pool started for the number of employees laid off by December 31st? Price is Right rules so if you go over you lose.
Also, none of this bidding a guess one employee higher than someone else. That's just rude.
Experience requested on how Chevron handles terminations
I've gotten mixed reviews in Houston on how Chevron handles layoffs with employee blue badges. For those of you who were actually here during past ROMs, were you or your teammates (non managers) walked out the same day or given a few weeks to still... — read more
Funny, checked the other industry related sites on this website, and all are so much more positive and inquiring
We all know the excrement is about to hit the rotating equipment. It is one thing to draw out the "decision making process", when we all know the decisions have been made. At this point "upper management" has gone above and beyond with their... — read more
These jobs will never return
Chevron has been screwing you for years. The state of Texas pays Chevron a major subsidy for everyone the company relocates from California. That's the reason for the accelerated move schedule. Just do a search and see what comes up. Now it makes... — read more

Billable model is an excuse for poor management
500 sounds right but that's 300 less than 2008 levels and 3300 less than today's levels. Also the billable model is a excuse for poor management and literally encourages inefficiency. Consider the lowly etc sme, who's only target is billable. He is... — read more
Chevron has to give a 90 day notice before layoffs (WARN ACT)
So under the WARN act Chevron has to give a 90 day warning before they lay off 100 employees or more. I called this week and did confirm AMBU filed there WARN act in November of 2014. So they will have to pay at least to October. Looks like November... — read more

its not a ROM or a layoff, it's a mass downsizing, a mass termination
layoff means when the work comes back, an employee is called back to work. You will never be called back to work. This is it. Period. Please don't sit and wish for Uncle Watson to save your career. I left Chevron about eight months ago. Our offices... — read more
QUIT SUGAR COATING, IT'S NOT A ROM, IT'S A LAYOFF

What does "no packages" really mean?
The standard package for the last 25 plus years meant 2 weeks per year up to 26 years service which was aways a nice incentive for people on the edge of retirement to just jump ship. I can't believe the "new package" is just your last paycheck plus... — read more
Well in ETC many of those expats are doing just fine
As long as they were willing to relocate to Houston we kept them. A few lucky ones got absorbed through the business units. the ones who quit did so on their own terms because they didn't want to leave the country they were working in. From what I've... — read more
Ex Pats in ROM
have any of you gone through a ROM as an ex pat and been left standing in your current organization?
Not directly layoff related - but curious what the pay scale look like on the upper end (PSG 22+)
