I just read an article about Schwab laying off 600. Is this true?!?! I haven't heard anything like this.

Heard news about major layoff planned in USA and Singapore on 17th September. Most financial analysts roles n low admin jobs to be eliminated. Technically most of the worldwide offices to be reduced. Singapore and Hongkong will take major hit.

Does anyone have a clue what locations could be closing next? At this point even a rumor with some logic to it could be valuable.

An email went out this afternoon to all Schwab employees announcing the layoffs. The total number is expected to be roughly 600 employees across all locations and levels and the plan is to notify those affected by layoffs by next week.

This could be rumor, but September 18th may be the target date. We will see if that pans out.

If you work at schwab there is info under "severance" and you can read the details of packages. basically you get 2 months paid plus 2 weeks for every year of service.

Do you think Schawb will be laying off people here at USAA once the acquisition is complete? How about the IT group?
