Severance package

Deadline hears that those dismissed were given 60 days notice, however, they must work for a duration of their employment with a week of severance pay. In previous layoffs, those let go were not expected to work and still received pay when given... — read more

I don't like the direction the company is going

I'm very sorry for everyone who is affected, but maybe for some it will really be a blessing in disguise... Given the direction this company is going in, it's only possible to expect things to get worse here, right?

Are parks getting hit today?

I said this before and I'll say it again, I'm not sure why we need layoffs when we're understaffed as it is. This will not help, this can only make the customer experience worse. Whoever is making these decisions should trade jobs with me just for... — read more

The consequence of their bad decisions

I am still safe but the anxiety is huge. It's terrible what good people are going through because of bad leadership moves. Did these layoffs really have to happen?

What's happening?

Do we have any idea how many have been notified so far and which departments were hit? I hate having little to no information on something this important. If the leadership cared about us at all or respected us they would keep us informed, whether... — read more

The Media Industry Is Way Behind

This guy can’t believe that youtube is primarily consumed on televisions and that more people watch youtube than any of the washed up corporate media companies. Also, grumpy cat? Loool that cat has been literally dead longer than YouTube shorts have... — read more

Finally some good news

I've said it before and I'll say it once again, we are severely understaffed at parks and we need more people. Without them, customer service is suffering. Hearing that Disney plans to hire 13,000 Cast Members is more than welcome and for once the... — read more

I like that it's not just us

I'm not trying to sound unfeeling, I don't wish layoffs on anybody, but if it has to be someone, then employees in China should lose their jobs rather than those of us in America. We'll take the brunt of it anyhow, so any kind of reprieve from the... — read more

Multiple high-ranking employees affected

Disney Plus

There was talk that many of the laid-off employees will be from streaming, but I'm yet to hear of any major losses at Disney Plus. Are they leaving those employees for last or have the potential numbers been overblown? I'm a cast member and I was... — read more

Upcoming Layoffs

It is important to note that Disney 2023+ is first and foremost DEI-based with regards to Human Resources. It is the new core, the new foundation of this department, and the whole company. DEI is the umbrella that everything else falls under. Ms... — read more

Finally!

We'll know who's getting laid off by April. At least I hope I understood that correctly. There is no reason to tell employees there'll be layoffs and then leave them guessing and stressing for months after that. I am not looking forward to layoffs... — read more

What’s the future of Hulu?

Selling off Hulu, ESPN or both would slim Disney down, placing a sharper focus on its family-friendly superbrands such as Marvel and Star Wars. ————————— Source: https://www.ft.com/content/962ded50-5ffa-4e02-8eaf-1d77e44b4d31

Have layoffs started?

I know contractors and PH were cut. What other sectors or business segments are going to be impacted and when?

DEI is DOA

This is a major problem for Disney because Iger's state approach is to mitigate risk and leverage existing IP by race- or gender-swapping existing characters. Peter Pan and Wendy is likely to be another bo-b, so there is going to have to be a... — read more

Can anybody share what areas were hit so far?

From what I understand, this round of layoffs is phased. It would be nice to know what was hit so far to have some idea of where we are currently in the bigger picture. I wish there was more transparency about the process but that's too much to... — read more

Why is no one speaking about the layoffs going on?

People have already been let go, and some are being told their last day is coming up. Why is social media so quiet about it? Why are those let go not speaking up about it? Are they being told not to say anything to avoid negative publicity?
