How about that! A professor looking out for students. That's going to anger many in administration.If Follett is contractually authorized to mark up by specific percentages, it doesn't relieve Follett from having to compete against the marketplace. If they charge too much, the students will buy books elsewhere. If they charge restocking fees, the faculty and students may demand a new vendor. Where Follett thinks the administration is its customer they will learn the administration doesn't buy many books. It's the student, stupid!

The amendment included restocking fees and return policies on new textbooks and freight and handling costs for books sold to Follett at less than 25 percent discount.

Namala believes that this amendment allows Follett to make more money at the expense of students.

“What’s happened has happened, but my concern is that it should not allow the amendment for the contract renewal in 2015.”
