I heard that we might have a major reorg in 2015. Probably Q2 or Q3 and that we'll have layoffs that will go along with shuffling P&L and departments. You never know what's going to happen but that's what I heard...

need to get rid of Swisher and Goodman...they've done nothing but destroy the company under their watch..all brands are down, and have lost licensing properties to Hasbro.. all they do is collect a fat paycheck and walk around like they don't stink
sadly..all Executive Managment is being protected until the end...the same SVP's that have detroyed the company continue to get fat off of Mattel.. it's not a even a shawdow of what it was 6-7 years ago, it was bad then...
I was there during the big layoff in 2010. I was part of the IT Dept. Desktop Support. They outsourced us to India. Crazy times. Mattel Layoffs don't surprise me. I miss that place though. We had a great team.

I wouldn't put it past Mattel to make all field reps part time or better yet just lay them off and hire cheaper labor. Every 3 or 4 years there were "shake ups" and each time it got worse. Probably going to just have field reps that are part time so there will be no benefits to pay. Management was always saying how "valuable" field reps were but I think it was really said just to keep morale up to do more work.
Mattel used to be a family oriented company but no more. It really is a shame
If the field reps are being reclassified as part time to avoid paying them benefits, that's reprehensible, but also sounds like something Mattel HR would do. Hearing it's either tomorrow (3/5) or next week on 3/12 as well. Hearing also that the cuts may extend up into the boardroom, including CFO and head of HR. Hope the CFO doesn't drive his Ferrari to work this week or next week as he's done in previous layoffs...
Things are beyond scary at Mattel right now. No one is going to be immune from this round of layoffs coming next week, rumored to be happening on 3/12. Everyone has been saving all of their work feverishly. This could have been managed a hundred different ways to minimize the fractured sense of team in the office but even the VPs don't know what's coming. I guess the crisis in leadership is trickling down from the top. Gee, so glad that paid the big bucks to bring back the golden boy dixon. Can't wait to see him exit out with his package when ToyBox idea doesn't work either. What a shame, there used to be such a focus on innovation and product now it just seems to be a revolving door of leaders coming in and promoting their ill advised agendas. NAD anyone?
Its already happened. No rumors. They are forcing all full time employees out with early retirement offers, but as of June 1, all field rep's will be reclassified as part time, no benefits. Biggest problem, they still think they have a viable product in Barbie and Hot Wheels! they cant see the technology trend consumers are going toward and they are so TOP HEAVY. huge salaries, lots of managers with sizable pay. The CEO quit before they fired him, to keep his parachute salary intact for 3 more years!

and that's got everyone nervous. Layoffs are coming.......
Treat this as a rumor and we'll see what 2015 brings, I have no info thats 100% accurate
