Over the past 2-3 years, the work culture has taken a major nosedive. Late hours, squeezing of resources, endless trips to Korea and China. Working weekends and long weekends has become a norm. However, fair compensation was provided in the form of bonuses, especially in the fall review cycle. The bonuses were a pittance this time and the licensing situation was used as a convenient excuse
So, what really motivates people to stay on? I am barely able to see my kid and wife during weekdays and even the weekends sometimes. If this trend continues, there is simply no point in staying on. You spend a ridiculous amount of time putting in the best years of your life for a corporation, only to be let go due to 'business' reasons
