Who you knew, who liked you, whose ass crack you'd lick and who didn't feel threatened.

It was always who you knew. Now it's who you knew from Kmart sears and office max.

Okay, let me put it another way as not to seem "pseudo intellectual"; I am glad to be gone be it voluntarily or involuntarily! I worked with a bunch of wanna be brilliant yet dumb motherfuckers who used nepotism and underhanded ways to gain power and influence (for those who couldn't see through the tactics, and trust, many did). Projects? Well, let's see...none of them were spotless including a MAJOR one that prompted more lies and deceit and further set the tone for non integral behavior. Or maybe all the lies, deceit, and abuse of power can be bundled as "passion". GTFOH! Is that "pseudo intellectual" enough?

They no longer want your contributions. Existing employees are the ones who have created everything that they perceive as broken.

They have created nothing and absolutely zero innovation. The only original idea they have is off campus SKYO stores and dominican stores. Everything else was previous leadership.

I'm not sure who your comment is directed at since you got the number wrong, but regardless you need to chill out. Your comment is inappropriate and makes no sense on this thread. Take a nap and come back when you can act like an adult.

First you're a delusional toad. Your John Wayne, Libertarian view is antiquated and ill informed. That you'd belch your pseudo-intellectual stink in public indicates, too, that you have poor manners. Your Hobbesian point of view is sad. It makes me think you're dealing with abuse and in denial. Is life really poor, nasty, brutish and short? Has every project you worked on been an exact sum of it's contributed parts? Have you never contributed the idea or spark that refocuses efforts and attention so the product of work isn't simply 6x units of work equal one widget? In the strictest sense, you're right. It is just a job. You work for a pay check. Find another pay check. However, if that is how you live your life, don't leave. Find help. You've been abused and you've separated yourself from your experience. You need to put yourself back together again. Then you can move on.

My grieving period actually lasted about a day. Although you have invested time (including tons of hours after work), energy, and just really loved working in your career field....you realize office politics and discrimination take precedence. Remaining somewhere you aren't liked, pegged (which is hard to reverse), oppressed (I am better than you just because...), takes a toll on your health. It doesn't help your superiors are not holding to the same standards they ridicule you for. When even business as usual gets messy, unclear, micro managed, hostile, and ignored, the problem is not you. It starts at the head of any given organization, department, etc.

Accept that as a fact and allow no one to peg you as "the problem". The problem child is usually punished to set an example to keep others in check and afraid. Well, I'm free. I'd much rather be let go/move on than put up a front, be something I'm not, and take abuse.

So you're telling me Follett can still care less than they do now?

For companies like Follett that are laggards and only talk a good game that is exactly how they think of employees. Companies like Costco, Google, GE and others think of their employees as assets and something to preserve. Follett could care less about you - the employees.

Sorry, I don't agree with your viewpoint. There is more to an employer/employee relationship than a paycheck. In a very narrow sense, yes, all they owe you is that last paycheck, but in a broader sense there should be mutual respect and reliance on each other to maintain their part of the relationship. Follett is failing on both points. While undoubtedly terminated employees will eventually land somewhere else and be happier, you are ignoring the time between termination and landing a new position. Not exactly a pleasant experience.

Sorry I can't confirm your pathetic world view. Just a former employee telling others to avoid your stupidity and move.

Thanks, Edelman. Glad to know how Follett feels about their employees. Based on that, the employees owe Follett nothing, including any kind of loyalty.

No even close. Take charge of your life and move on. Nobody owes you anything. If your last paycheck cleared that is the end of it.

Your comment is misinformed. Once the abused employee leaves they'll go through a grieving process. If they can get past this, they'll begin to feel better because they're not being abused any longer. They'll have emotional scars that will fade in time. The people targeted by the band of thugs masquerading as management have invested a lot into this company. Separation isn't that easy.

I wonder how that roll out will go. Functional or roll it out and tell everyone not to use it?

Not to be to blunt but you sound a little naive. "Some people are crazy. I accept that and move on. Some earlier posts suggested once one is gone, they'll be much happier, I agree!" Many have put hard work in increasing sales, growth and providing excellence service for many years. When you work at a company for numerous years you can not only add more value but also receive rewards for your hard work such as an extra week off vacation. So seeing others now profit off others hard labor and then treat them like they have something contagious is more than rude.
