Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Nothing in the news!

Do you know why there are no Qualcomm Layoff News on any portal? I checked a ton of sites and news aggregation services, and there is nothing, nada, zilch on the layoff.

The whole warn notice thing is a big nothing.

A competitor laid off close to 2K employees last year. No WARN notice whatsoever. If it has to happen it'll happen.

Supposedly tomorrow is D Day so perhaps we will see announcements then. For obvious reasons, the company would not want anything to be announced ahead of it being disseminated internally.

CA WARN requirements are "Plant closing, layoff or relocation of 50 or more employees within a 30-day period regardless of percentage of work force". So the answer to your question is yes, QCOM can (and does) do multiple small layoffs thereby avoiding WARN. But in this case if we are in fact talking about 1500 employees that would take 30 months, not a likely scenario. If there is a 1500+ layoff WARN will likely apply and you can expect it to make all the news outlets.

Have layoffs exceeded the WARN threshold? If officially they have then you would have seen it. If not you won't, and this is probably why you haven't seen it. I don't know maybe someone who knows can add...can a company do multiple layoffs with each layoff not exceeding WARN threshold, and not get the publicity?
