Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Who is to blame?

I see and hear quite a bit of complaining about the executives of CCI, and can see some solid and accurate arguments. That being said, I am fairly certain that it was the few bad apples at the divisional, regional, and campus levels that ultimately committed the acts of fraud by entering false attendance, putting in false placements, pay for hire schemes, campus level recruitment tactics and "sales" pitches, which has brought this company to it's knees. The pressure was on from the top, but those with their hands in the mix didn't have to commit those egregious acts.

God Bless all the people trying to take down these unethical, rotten for-profit colleges. Socle will get theirs. The whole reason ECMC is agreeing to be a part of this mess is to acquire Socle's client accounts. Socle's days are just as numbered as the campuses and CSC.

Contributing to justice being served is more than fun! Fun is blowing the whistle. Watching justice being served on a criminal enterprise that stole from students and taxpayers alike - priceless!

49395 - Xow, what was that about? Someone needs "closure" and is carrying "hate" because they're helping the AGs and ED close down a predatory and illegal operation (and we are - I see it every day now that I know where to look)? Trust me, the CCi whistle blowers I know (at least 5 who have left Socle Tampa in the last 6-12 months) seem happy as pie. They're out of this crazy ass place and all have better jobs. The ones left behind are the ones who are going to need help if we don't get new jobs soon. Luckily, some of the ones who left are my friends and are helping identify opportunities at their new companies, so I might get out intact. When I'm out I might whistle blow too, just for fun.

Don't forget to ask for a little $$ from the Feds for your whistleblowing activities

Well I genuinely hope that someday you get closure and put this all behind you. Don't carry the hate with you.

369: I'm a current Socle employee but I have lots of documentation as well, especially from the unlimited system access I have during systems testing. I've had three interviews with another company (rival with headquarters in Brandon - you know the one) and I cannot wait to be able to quit!!! And you can bet your bootie I'll be backing up what others have told the feds. AND I'll be on this site - partially because it's a train wreck happening and it's going to be hard not to watch, but also to remind myself that I'm so lucky and happy to have gotten out!! Yes, I can't wait to be one of the cheerful, annoying ex-employees who show up on here to gloat, or reprimand, or whatever.

49369 - I just left (11/7) and I am not happy with the way I was treated when I did. It was disrespectful and payback is a bitch if you've been doing illegal shit. I have a better job (Citi) with better pay but I am certainly taking the time to make sure DOE knows everything I know and has the evidence I've collected over the past 4 months. I'm also connecting them with other witnesses. CCi is a criminal organization that's been misusing billions of dollars of taxpayer money. It's a civic duty to make sure the jackasses who drove the wrongdoing are taken down.

357- Who keeps flash drives for a former employer? Who visits blog sites for a former employer and who pretends to have power when they have none. It's sad. Get on with your life. You will be happier if you just put cci behind you. It's like stalking an ex on fb. Defriend!

357 - Yup, KD and her crew are horrible, totally unethical people. They are to blame, along with pretty much every CP who allowed their placement and academic staff to be pressured and bullied to the point of having to falsify data to keep their jobs. Along with pretty much every admissions person I've ever met at a manager level or higher. Lots of blame to go 'round, OP.

329: The feds are about to get a LOT more info. KD and her crew just really pissed me off with how they handled my resignation. Well, guess what lady? I have three flash drives full of info you do NOT want getting out. Even if there is a sale, if the new owners don't replace all of the Socle management, there's gonna be a program review like you ain't never seen! ECMC, if you know what's good for you, do not even consider keeping that incompetent and blatantly regulation disregarding crew. I (and others I'm in contact with) have actually heard KD and her top imbeciles state that we would NOT be following regulations because she considered them "ridiculous" or "silly." Screw you, bitch. The shit's about to get real.

The biggest villain is Wells Fargo. Their position in the company led to its demise. There are others (from corporate lawyers to lead generators) but they have less important roles.

Well, OP, there weren't just a few bad apples. CCi hired, trained, and retained staff in every single one of its schools. That means senior leadership is directly responsible for the actions of those bad apples who received incentives (monetary and otherwise) to behave in a deceitful, fraudulent, and predatory manner. The culture is pervasive and systemic, even in the presence of the federal monitor - who has ties to the for profit college industry. I hope the Feds are calling so they can hear what I undeniably see every day and give the criminal investigation some teeth.

The only thing that CCi has done wrong is operate at large losses. Losing a few hundred million dollars is tragic.

OP, I must respectfully disagree. As Jack has said a few times in his directors and above meetings regarding the ED, accreditors, and other regulators, "Hey, if we're doing something wrong, let us know and we'll fix it." Implication being that CCi will walk the line between questionable and obviously criminal until a third party points it out. The actions of a few (which is actually hundreds) bad apples were supported and rewarded all the way up to the top of CCi. This is how culture is built, and this how a culture of fraud, deceit, and predation became endemic here. #256: The bad apples are the ones that thrive and get ahead in the CCi culture of criminality... Just look around at who's still there (aside from instructors)!
