Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Is any department (except IT) laying people off?

It looks like only IT layoffs are reported here? I am not sure if any other department lays people off. Or, maybe IT folks are just more vocal and comfortable posting info here? Thoughts?

Yes other departments are on the list. The regime is looking at everyone. No one is safe, except the top level and they don't care because they have a golden FU parachute. It is their dream to rule the financial world and anyone can be lead to the gas chamber. If they tell you to grab your things and come with them, you are going in. They will tell you it is not your fault and everything is ok. That it is not gas you smell. Don't believe them. Tell them to F Off and you welcome the sweat smell of mustard gas because you can no longer endure the torture. Good luck.

If you read ALL the comments way, way back, you'll see it is more than IT & Ops, but mostly IT & Ops are getting the porking.

I'm in arch and dev and it SUCKS! Sateesh has to be the manager with the worst people skills in the ENTIRE world. And I do mean the ENTIRE world. The North Korean leader is better with people.

Lipstick on a pig comes off eventually. They said everything is great in IT too. High turnover (not counting contractors), dropped clean out of the Compuworld's best 100 IT places to work, no longer in Indeed's top 100 places in Florida to work (#177). I hear what they are saying, but we're seeing a different picture in the trenches. If raises and bonuses come in good, I'll change my tune, but actions speak louder than words at RJ and their actions so far have hurt people, culture and moral.

The company would be just as valuable today with Tim Eitel still at the helm. He was a real leader, interacted with people, understood what was going on and made great decisions. He is truly to this day, what the success of IT at Raymond James is. Tim cared about his associates. He didn't sit in his big corner office and hammer down the law. Never in his tenure was there a mass layoff. IT ALWAYS made the best places to work when he was in charge. And people didn't post on this board in those days either. Everyone knows that change is and can be good, but it can't be drastic, and ruin people's lives.

You keep saying arch and dev are inline for momumental failure without any support soooo you were laid off with cause or just jealous? FA seem to like their products and ops like working with them

The fact is that the execs do not want to pay for IT any more. Contractors will do the work, things will get outsourced, forget excellence and focus on good-enough, IT is a commodity and not an competitive advantage. Bella is executing on this direction, I do not like her, I do not like her style, I do not like the cast of characters she has hired and I do not like what she is doing. Yet, it's not Bella's initiative or idea, this is a strategic direction provided by Senior Management and she's just a peon executing it. Works for her though, sucks for us.

Bella has lost her edge and is why she brought in friends from her ex-employer

And why this thread focuses on IT and Ops

From 2006-2012 RJ was rated one of the top 100 places to work in IT they didn't make the cut in 2013 & 2014

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2490473/it-careers/best-places-to-work-in-it-search-the-archives-1994-2014.html

NEW IT senior management is there to reorg reduce costs streamline and leave

number of contractors +

technologies moving to the cloud +

number of empty cubes in towers 1 and 2

I understand "some" cuts in IT, but I think there is quite a bit of fat outside of IT too.

the only reason you see just IT related stuff is that's where the biggest hit was. 162 people last year? I forget exactly how many. There have been people let go since then, but IT was the only mass one so far.

The IT department has become a huge joke, particularly Arch & Dev. They are truly inline for monumental failure.
