Thread regarding Follett layoffs

More store closings

How many Follett store contracts not renewed in the last 2 years? How many gained? Anyone know?

Follett lost the contract at Cal Berekley. BBA Solutions manages the Official Cal Student Store in the new renovated location on campus. Click this link for details. http://bbasolutions.com/about-us/

And Follett moved right across the street paying a fraction of the rent. With no school store, the students all went to our store. It was a great rush for us.

Just because they didn't re-up with Follett doesn't mean they selected a vendor. Follett still has a store operating there, for the time being. The only thing the ASUC knew is it didn't want Follett in its renovated space (once it's completed). Heck of an endorsement http://www.dailycal.org/2014/07/31/cal-student-store-move-location-change-vendors/

What kind of school gets rid of Follett with nothing to replace it with? They don't have a store at the present time.

Er, the store total is on the Quad. It dropped to 860 or so this summer but this morning it's 943.

Calling BS on your comment (at least in your assessment of why campuses fire Follett). Cal fired Follett without another vendor to go to. They're renovating "Lower Sproul" and that's where the bookstore will go. The only thing the new for certain was they didn't want Follett. Nope, Follett gets fired because it has fallen behind in the value it brings to the campus. It isn't "flip-flopping". How arrogant!

They haven't changed publicizing sales numbers from over five years ago and haven't even come close since. Last I heard about a hundred down in contracts.

The fheg website no longer shows the current number of stores under management. Once proudly displayed is now a secret. Guess why?

They have lost more than they are stating, lost Polk State to B&N and lost Faulkner State and Boston too. B&N College has plans to add 300 Bookstores soon

It is usually about the same every year, perhaps a slight increase. These schools just flip back and forth between Follett and BN based on rent paid to the school. Nothing more or less.
