Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

How man campuses have 50+ enrollments in a day?

That Portland Everest has ONE for the week. "ECPO online is enrolling like business as usual. 50+ today alone......at least we still want to add value to our campus so we can be sole instead of closed for a teach out....."

I find it deeply disturbing and offensive that ANYONE would dare say a community college is inferior to CCI in ANY aspect. Community colleges ARE much less expensive and your typical CCI student would not HAVE to take out loans to go to a community college, pell covers it. At my local community college, they offer certificates of completions in automotive technology for around $1000. The nursing assistant cert is also $1000. An associates in automotive technology runs about $7500 if you include books, same as the associates in nursing. That's even if they take an extra year because tuition is charged per credit, not per term. How much is the comparable programs at Wyotech and Everest? Seriously, STFU when comparing community colleges to CCI, there is NO comparison.

Even if what you are stating is true, re: costs. That CC AS had much more value in the real world. Reputable companies with good jobs will interview that CC student before CCI, and will get you better positions. The CC AS will pay off with better returns. Either your a troll trying to keep the "dream" alive, or are totally clueless on how the world outside of CCI/EC views CCI schools. Well, other than the local payday loan.

14586 CC isn't necessarily less expensive. 2 years at CC turns into 3...most students still take out loans. So... EC in 9 months, a trade and 9K in loans vs CC in 3 yrs, an AS degree and 15K in loans...The EC electrical grad is 2 years in making $$$. 2 years away from journeyman. And much more easily bring potential and ROI than any AS you can name.

It's pathetic that all the trolls at CCI are still trying to play games. You must be kidding on directing students to CC for basic skills. CC's are steps above the crap education CCI schools and the like put out. If they succeed at a CC, that AS has much more value than anything one would achieve at a CCI school, at vastly lower cost. And, if you truly believe otherwise you are clueless. All these crap schools, using school very loosely, whether you work at or get an education at one, are the running jokes for the real world.

Sub-prime businesses dealing with mortgages, students and loans are the cess pools of the business world. Preying on individuals that can least afford it, and run by scam artists who hire sub-prime staff to do their bidding.

Every campus has it's goals. I've worked both ground and online. Ground enrollment goals are a lot lower than online goals. 50 for online is typical, but most students COE before classes start. We all should continue with the "business as usual" mentality. If you can't keep looking forward resign and find another job don't wait around and milk it for a check. If you milk it for a check you are everything wrong with CCI and no better that jack. If you truly care about students you would keep work on changing their lives (not selling them on the school) but truly helping them. I personally care about each one of my students, I have even told potential students to go to a local CC to gain basic skills before coming to Everest.

Maybe it's just me but I would want to keep working so that I don't get "laid off" we all know there isn't enough money for severance packages.

"Man campuses"? Is this the sort of sexism that got Corinthian in trouble? In the first place?
