I see a lot of attack on Admissions. The Admissions Representatives I work with actually believe in what we do. IDK if this is because for years we were treated better than other departments and paid better as well but some of you need to read a course catalog. As a Rep, I present placement information as reported by Career Services. I do not lie or embellish the numbers, I show them what is in black and white. I tell students how much the program costs but I am not privy to the specifics on how they are going to pay for school- they spend 2-3 hours total with Student Finance who breaks things down for them and gives them a variety of options. I follow the law on enrolling students and am not there to qualify or disqualify. People with disabilities are protected under the law and it is up to the DEAN to step in and deny admission. My job is to verify HS/GED, arrange for testing and hand them off to SF. I answer the phone when Campus Support transfers the call. I ask for referrals from my students. I set the expectation that EVEREST COLLEGE IS SCHOOL. THERE IS REAL WORK INVOLVED AND THAT THERE IS NO MAGIC WAND THAT WILL EITHER GIVE THEM THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL OR GET THEM HIRED. Everyone blames admissions. We are just a piece of the puzzle, selling what CCI said it could deliver on. I am NOT an Admissions Counselor or Advisor BTW. I am an Admissions Representative.

What a load of crap. "Admissions" at CCi hired sales reps who could prey on victims. It's that simple. I heard the hard sell over and over on campus and students over the years have told me some of the lies told to them by the sales reps. Back in the 1990s I had a campus admissions director actually threaten me because I told the truth to a student who had been lied to by the sales rep who victimized her. I told the admissions director to go f# himself.
I'm sure if you believe it to be true, then it must be good.
