Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

offer

i just got an offer from Wells Fargo as a "Info Security Engineer" role; does anyone know anything about their IT staff? do they outsource services? programming? salary mid-point is $103k and telecommutable so that's pretty decent.

I've worked for 20 years in IT at WF, Minneapolis. Anonymous47189 speaks true. My advice to anyone coming in from the outside is negotiate your salary like crazy, because unless you leave your position you won't be getting any real raises. Cronyism is high; If you're not one of their favorites, you get nothing (.5-1%). Bonuses are completely subjective as well. It's sad because there are some people there with incredible technical talent. They are overshadowed by the people who will throw you to the wolves in a desperate attempt to get enough recognition for that one, desperate .5% increase at the end of the year. The atmosphere becomes most depressing when record profits are announced for the nth year in a row.

I worked for TIG/TOG for 11 years. I have never worked with so many backstabbing, glory grabbing, f_cking coc_suckers. Especially at the Minn data center. The middle managers are truly slime balls who will fu_k you to get bigger bonus's and hand out the raises to their friends. If you take the job you will immediately see what I am talking about. TIG/TOG is a hate filled toxic dysfunctional environment. I wouldn't wish Tig/Tog on my worst enemy.

I'd take it - WF is a good place to work at, if you are sharp you will move up

A lot of work is oursourced in the IT group, on the security side most of the work is here in the States so you are pretty safe there. It's an OK group, probably a bit busier than other shops but overall not bad.
