Thread regarding Follett layoffs

I received a bonus in August then laid off in November. Did this happen to anyone else?

Our store just barely missed budget. Official bonus zero $. However I was given a $600 bonus check in recognition of my hard work. Then I was laid off Nov. 8th. Anyone have any thought on this?

I think that another poster's suggestion to file a complaint with the EEOC was a good one. My personal experience with other types of federal complaints was that having a federal investigation got their attention. In one case, the government agency flat out told them that what they were doing was illegal and they needed to stop it. Other experiences have not been so dramatic but it was always helpful. It is also true that the more complaints they receive about the same company the higher priority they give the investigation. File a complaint about your specific situation and let them sort out the inconsistencies. They have the ability to get additional information from the company.

Everyone was told what to say due to the circumstance. The "Project Goal" was to get rid of as many employees as possible, they longer the person was with the company and the more money they made the higher they were on the hit list. Oh by the way those that helped and still match the profile, you are on the list too, don't fool yourselves.

Never fully believe or trust management. They love games...especially the lying game

If you received a bonus that means your store made budget. No one from your store should have been laid off. It was my understanding that only stores that continually failed to meet budget were targeted for staff reduction.

I find it interesting that you got a bonus in August when we were told that bonuses had been changed to yearly. It was certainly implied that everyone's bonuses were being changed. Proving yet again you can't trust anything they say.
