Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Options

Just because you signed the severance agreement doesn’t mean you cannot file a complaint with the EEOC or get advice from an employment attorney that’s why they have free consultations. A signed severance agreement does not protect against illegal activity such as discrimination. If you feel Follett violated their own “criteria” and you were discriminated against do yourself a favor and talk to an attorney. What do you have to lose? Didn’t they just take your life’s work and flush down the toilet?

I was laid off last April and went to see a lawyer. I am older and longer tenure employee and the lawyer indicated there was no case.

You have nothing to lose, but I wouldn't pay an attorney anything for their advice. If they think you have a case they can share in the winnings.
