Thread regarding Follett layoffs

March update

Okay unfortunately, the layoffs have been happening at the beginning of the month so I would be concerned about this week Tuesday-Wednesday. The March time frame is key for layoffs to get the bullet bit on this fiscal year. They already know that they are not meeting bonus targets so they will accrue the cost of the layoffs and eat it this year. Home offices will be the target. There will be a couple of key FSS departures (Nonna is already gone). Sorry to say that it will continue on and on. The future is not mary lee's emphasis-cost cutting is. Good luck.

The inexplicable irony is those who decide who is laid off are often the very people who made the layoff necessary. To further complicate things, many times those people control the board of directors and C level positions, too.

Adam Smith described a world where with risk comes reward. Our reality is closer to Lewis Carrol; we're through the looking glass here. Those without risk reap all the reward. We're simply pieces on their game board.

  1. Some on this blog continue to try and "create" karma. Some on this blog blame others for their own behavior. With that said. ...some companies fall apart. This isn't the first company and won't be the last. Believing or not believing in Karma does not mean no conscience exists.

All the people playing the games probably don't believe in karma. Not everyone has a conscience.

5703 is so right.. it happened in new York and Philly. lets just hope no more layoffs and every body gets to keep their jobs. even the backstabbers get to keep their jobs. cause I wouldn't wish what happened to me on anyone.

A lot of people want to be laid off or don't care either way at this point. I don't think it will be all that dramatic. Everyone has been waiting for it for a quite a while now. It will be more dramatic for those that are left no doubt.

It'll happen. This regime has strategically put into policy for people to fight against each other. What they didn't factor into the equation is they setup an informal policy that they can not control and has in the past for any organization as Lincoln so well put a house divided against itself cannot stand. Hence they have bought into and embraced their own demise as one may guess they did or learned from their former employers. Much to misfortunate of Follett or should I refer to Follett in the past tense.

What would be hysterical is to see those who played the game setting up others be laid off too.

Management who puts coworkers against each other should be fired.

Setting people up began over a year ago in HO, Store Sys and Tech Writing that I know of. My manager doesn't even do his own reviews, he has one of his lackeys do it so what gets reported is NOT from a manager but from an "regular" employee who "struts" his stuff, most people know Mr. Obnoxious.

Oh my god. So much setting up going on. My managers play games and two of them seem to have herpes/cold sore issues. Play evil games and harbor anger and your body will get you . No need to wait for karma. It's a job. Is it really worth it? People should be careful who they pick on. Some may fight back.

oh yes I believe in karma... those that betrayed friendships and set up colleagues for layoff/fired for the al mighty dollar will get theirs soon enough.

OMG ~ Yeah this is a company I would be glad to have/had given years to make a good ROI an get that treatment! Just a message to those who are replacing them, they'll do the same to you, or karma will. This new leadership is the worst I've ever seen or heard of. Both in business and in dealing with people!!!!

I hear they're going after long term managers that make a few extra bucks and sticking in fresh out of school grads and pay them next to nothing.

some folks aren't even told to their face they just find the severance check in their accounts. really really low

They are only going to be able to layoff a certain number of Illinois employees to be eligible for the millions in tax incentives they received from the state. I don't have an exact timeframe they will need to keep that number employed, after that period expires I would anticipate on more.

this does make sense, since it was March 2013 when they started their first major round of lay offs. Also cuts down on moving and set up cost to the new building... less employees to bring along/set up/train.
