Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Cabelas does not need so many employees any more...

Cabela's has learned they don't need to provide customer service like they used to, customers will still buy what they came for because they drove 200 miles to get to a Cabela's store, and after receiving little or no customer service they will still wait in long lines to check out. Cabela's employees are hounded constantly by management to push their store credit cards and scam extended insurance policies on their customers. They hound cashiers to get customer's phone numbers, and to "round-up" their purchase to an even dollar amount. This is very important to Cabela's management, above all other customer service. Everyone who works there knows Cabela's has no respect for their employees, but what not so many know is they no longer have any respect for their customers either. They would rather scam their customers with their high pressure add-on programs and credit cards than put that priority into providing customer service, like they used to be so well known for. Very sad what has happened to this company as management has passed from the two founding brothers to a board-of-directors driven CEO whose priority is short term end-of-quarter results.

Customers already do that now, you would be amazed at how many products Cabela's sells that can be bought on Amazon.com at a much lower price. Wal Mart can compete with Amazon prices, Cabela's cannot even come close.

At some point people will come to cabelas to LOOK and then go to the web to buy. We have become Best Buy.
