Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Regarding H. Taylor

Howard is still with Follett because he is one of the good guys doing a wonderful job of serving his customers and his staff.

I found Howard to be a hard worker but a borderline idiot. He means well but sometimes just gets in the way.

Read as if it came from Howard's mother. Very nice.

Reality check; who are his customers. Customers are defined as entities or people who pay you for goods or services. How is he serving students, faculty and staff? How does any executive service students, faculty and staff. The university is a stakeholder, not a customer. Wining and dining the executive offices of a university or college is lobbying, not customer service.

November is long ago. This past November Follett cut 10% of its labor force. It cut its most experienced hourly staff. It cut them in favor of cheaper, less experienced, unbenefitted newbies. This was done in the name of improving service. A trade journal called it cutting costs with a dose of horse excrement.

I ask again, how is Mr Taylor servicing customers.
