Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Marketing will be hit big time, 20% of folks here in the States and 30% of sales folks in Europe will have to go. We have over 110,000 people so it's hard to say how much will be axed, if you are valuable you'll likely remain with us. Last month we had a VSP (voluntary separation program) - this is usually the first step in the process before pink slips start flying. During VSP many people in finance, services, accounting, and sales applied for VSP, so, I am not sure how much money was spent on this kind of separation. The interesting piece here is that there are no WARN notices filed anywhere, so the overall layoff chunks must be in batches of 300 or less. I hate all of this but dell had to take care of business in this area if they wanted to be successful in this area.
