Thread regarding Follett layoffs

All, I can tell you this

All, I can tell you this. Yes, ecommerce team was hit hard by losing their VP of 15+ years, I was in the meeting in which it was announced. The CIO told the members, "you will love this guy, I used to work with him at Jos A. Banks, and he starts on Monday". Very cold, and no respect for a guy that help build a website generating 500 million in sales. So you see where this is going. The CIO will bring in his cronies. I suppose that is good business?

Follett has already started working with InfoSys, as they just started an eight week "discovery" phase for ecommerce applications. And yes, one they extract rules on how stuff works from people that they couldn't get out of documentation, that person will be cut. The CIO’s plans at this time, is to only have managers and leads in house to be able to manage offshore resources from….. Infosys. It happened at Sears.

The new management was brought in to "clean" house the only way they know how. Mary Lee has blamed the woes of Follett on IT. However, what she fails to see is how the business takes 4 months to figure out requirements for a critical business initiative, and then still makes changes to the time of deployment to production. I cannot tell how many times projects were late, because business stake holders couldn't make up their minds on requirements, or changed their minds before QA time, or used outside "UI experts" to design applications, that they didn't have a clue how the app truly works. So any advice to those still left, and it’s the same advice I gave to my coworkers, be prepared, and look for other opportunities. The “Each and Every Associate” value only counts for those at the very top, the rest of us, and it includes managers and supervisors included, are nothing but ragdolls to be thrown away when not needed.

I know more, but that may give my identity away.
