Yesterday, nearly every Staples store in the US lost an assistant manager to either demotion or layoff. Also, a couple of weeks ago, they announced that the old policy of matching 401k funds monthly was no longer in effect. They now only match funds yearly, meaning that if you don't stay with the company through the end of the year, you don't get the matching funds. These decisions stink of desperation.
