It doesn't always look good when applying for an instructor job at a community college when you have on your resume teaching at a for profit school. The better faculty selection committees understand that the job market is extremely bad and one has to do what one to do to survive. Not all faculty selection committees are so understanding.
A year or less at a for profit school probably won't put you out of the running but if your entire teaching experience is years at a for profit school then you are likely to be prerejected for a faculty spot at a public community college.
