The comment about outsourcing all MT development is factually incorrect.

There is a plan that has been in the works to outsource all MT development. This has been ongoing over the last few years.
If I was a LC or DDL I would be very nervous.

“Familiarity in his world breeds contempt.”
100% accurate. Just look at his behavior since 2012. MH does not like his employees and believes he is above them.
A cohort directed me to this site. I wanted you to know I'm leader of a Mcgraw transition team and trust me, as far as MH is concerned familiarity apparently in his world breeds contempt. If you're West - Cengage, consider updating your Linkedin profile now, it will be a bloodbath.
A lot of Cengage people seem to think MH will save them. Talk about Stockholm Syndrome. How many people has the guy fired since he took over?
The last transition meeting I attended outlined many regions which were already basically finished, including c a l if or nia , co lor ado, t e x as and a handful in the south east. Much of the midwest and east will remain in tact but western consolidation will be brutal and obvious considering the market share won by mcgraw the last few years. They pretty much earned their tenure and aren't behaving as if they're entitled like so many cengage people.
@Zyd6fhI-3qnx It certainly outsells MT in t e x a s and everyone in the organization knows the d m ' s, K a m 'a and c s m 's out there are a laughingstock, that's for sure. ....lookout!
Connect outsells MT, right?
@Zyd6fhI-2xmh Yes, teams will be in place for all areas with the goal of determining who is non essential. Premier franchises such as Stewart are safe but the rest are not. Some departments have seen so much bloodshed over the last two years like computing or sociology that it will not be a difficult decision to consolidate. Expect sales positions from RVP's to LC's to be slaughtered, The West region will be brutalized and KAM's are already labeled redundant and non essential but we already knew that, plus CSM's and DM's will be easy to consolidate, the numbers don't lie. Based upon volume of MT vs. Connect it's rather clear who will be less affected.
Do the other functional areas (editorial, finance, marketing etc) have these teams in place as well? Do they have headcount reduction targets?
It's true. I was asked to participate in a team as well.
@Zyd6fhI-2hjz Shhh sweet child, go cry yourself to sleep...
That is absolutely 100% not true
Yes, there is a target, no I will not share the specific number. Each sales district from both organizations has a transition member not dependent upon any knowledge of the District Manager. Regions have transition members, a mirror for each. P & L per district is considered especially labor costs.
Is there a target for headcount reductions yet? If so, is it cost based or is there a specific number you have to hit?
I'm on a transition team in North America. Ask me anything.
