Just curious what age people are on here. I'm 53 and the average age on my termination letter was 51.

Just shy of 49. Others in my group were 61, 57, 29,27.

The others in my group were 29, 49, 37 (not including contractors we lost).
They also laid off 68 yrs old in my group hence I think me (31) and younger employee were chosen to offset
57, African American and a woman
I was in an unemployment workshop recently and there wasn’t one person younger then early 50s. Sad sad world.
50 plus one month
Ford is FKd.
- The target was older employees; younger ones were collateral damage.

Ford is smart, GM is stupid. GM is stupid because their leaders are stupid. They will be punished for their lifetime.
- Ford layoffs were fair. They got rid of the low performers. GM kept the low performers and got rid of the older workers because of their higher salaries.

- 2 months shy of being fully vested. Thanks GM

This is very true, I know because I worked there. GPSC had allot of young people and they got totally screwed too along with everyone else. Fresh out of school and some only had a year with GM. Thanks to the greedy CEO and CFO
Within GPSC, a lot of people aged 25-35 were let go
What's the average age of GM's existing employees?
What's the average age of those laid off?
If the second number is higher, it's age discrimination.
60 and at this age it is difficult to find employment...many interviews but once they notice my age, in a live interview, I get rejected. I got layed off just short of 30 years
40 and over is a legal protected class.
So if they were "aiming for 50," they were violating the law.
Many younger people were added to listsast minute to meet the age targets from what I hear. There is grounds for at least reverse age discrimination
57, a level 9 told me the target age was around 50 to avoid lawsuits.
Has anyone talked to a lawyer? All someone would need to do is get a director on the stand to say that age was a factor during the layoffs
50 .
They are Liers
Didn't they assure us this had nothing to do with age, and they were just getting rid of functional areas they didn't think they needed anymore?

Hmm, I see a trend.

48 at the time.
In Austin, nearly the whole site arrived between 9:30 and 10, and left between 4:00 and 4:30.
And they took long lunches.
Just a handful of people were around before or after.
Never saw anyone working long hours.
54.5........this was a big kick in the teeth.
50, and most of the people in my department that were let go were older than me, with a few younger ones thrown in to make it look fair. I really hope they get sued for age discrimination.
37, it was the best thing for me. I was a 7a what I thought was making good money. Within 2 weeks of being let go I had 3 offers all over what I was making. Now I work less hours and get paid more.
What's the company?
Get woke, go broke. There's a move not just in automotive to push out the costly, in other industry its those capped out on rate. In terms of politics, identity politics, and free speech, the tide is turning as well.
Just today, a case awarded an actual victim 44 million from an educational entity, using their clout to their advantage to step on the rights of this small business. It should set the national stage for that slice of get woke reality. It's about time to start setting these companies in their place. The first step with GM, is to not purchase their products - ever. Let them thrash in the last remaining markets they have left, as we all know their consolidating what they have left. Time will pull them under.
They went after the higher salaries of people who had earned them over a lifetime. They kept those with fewer years who made less to make the balance sheet look good. What they’ll learn soon is they got rid of the experts and those left are quite lost trying to figure it out. As the saying goes ... you get what you pay for. There will be more freaking out behind exec closed doors as they try to figure out what to do before the next board meeting.

Under 50, GM did me a favor. Pushed me into a position with about a 60% improvement in both salary and benefits. Best of all, they're so diverse if GM goes belly up, no big deal. If any of the OEMs go belly up, it's a tiny piece of revenue. No big deal.
Best of all, with this new and greatly increased salary, NOT buying GM. Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot. It's a love and hate thing.
So, not the 22 year old new college hires
