I can't believe NetApp has laid of 2500+ people just since April - it would be very noticeable. I have not noticed or known of a single layoff, but I do hear that there have been some very small impacts. 2500+ people? That's almost 25% and us employees would sure notice that! I think the 2500+ since April, is not correct info .

"Transformation" has been going on at NetApp for over 8 years. That term and the annual layoffs have been a staple for a decade. I am not anti-NetApp but don't pretend they aren't like any other corporate company. Employees are a number on a spreadsheet. They need to make the numbers pretty for wallstreet. So they purge and refill, purge and refill. It makes operational costs look good at the right time of year for financial reporting. That is it.
It really seems the NTAP TLO page has just been taken over by trolls. Yes ntap is not perfect, nowhere is. The headcount is going up not down and although getting laid off is not a nice thing to go through changing business focus does not mean the end of the company. What ntap does badly is offer redeployment opportunities for those impacted or explain the rational behind restructuring.
Transformation is what is required in every company in order to stay relevant as products and markets change. I have worked for a number of multinationals tech companies and every one of them went through the same kind of process. The only difference has been the euphamistic names. All of them are still in business and are still at the top of their fields in the tech industry.
I agree with the previous poster - NetApp is not perfect.
I'm a NetApp employee and I know 2500 employees have not been laid off. Possibly 200 employees or so world wide which is sad but part of the continuous transformation plan.
Hey, NetApp is not perfect but don't dismiss so harshly. There are still plenty of good people and good products to be proud of. The storage market is shrinking and the cloud is growing and it's hard to pivot from one to the other.
I also don't think it's anything near 2500 this year, probably in the low hundreds.
LOL - Someone at NetApp (leader) actually wants us to ignore this forum?! It’s the o my place where we can read and hear about the layoffs happening in general since NetApp no longer performs them the legal way. Instead, they tell you that today’s your last day, heres 30-60-90 days to keep your mouth shut and sign the NDA. That should tell you everything you need to know about NetApp.
2,500 people would be around 20% of the current workforce. Nope. More like a couple hundred this year, although there's no company provided statement or official source by which to verify that. Lots of misinformation on this forum posted by disgruntled former employees who just can't seem to move on.
I will say this, if you are coming to this site to get information on impending layoffs at NetApp you're wasting your time. Things are buttoned up very tight these days with managers only getting a day's notice before they are required to lay someone off. You're going know when your time is up. You'll get a very non-descript meeting invite from your manager late in the day for an on-site meeting first thing the next morning.
The only reliable precursors to layoffs are projects placed on hold, decisions not getting made, and a general slow down in work and activity...a prolonged lull. If you spot that there's a good chance something is brewing.
Who cares! NetApp is yesterday’s technology and anyone working for them or going to work for them is either older than dirt or worthless in general. The competition is winning. That’s all that matters. Someone put a bullet in the dying horse.
