2,500 people would be around 20% of the current workforce. Nope. More like a couple hundred this year, although there's no company provided statement or official source by which to verify that. Lots of misinformation on this forum posted by disgruntled former employees who just can't seem to move on.
I will say this, if you are coming to this site to get information on impending layoffs at NetApp you're wasting your time. Things are buttoned up very tight these days with managers only getting a day's notice before they are required to lay someone off. You're going know when your time is up. You'll get a very non-descript meeting invite from your manager late in the day for an on-site meeting first thing the next morning.
The only reliable precursors to layoffs are projects placed on hold, decisions not getting made, and a general slow down in work and activity...a prolonged lull. If you spot that there's a good chance something is brewing.
