Since mid-April, NetApp has laid off 2500+ resources. No notification required at the fed level. They give notice, terminate and pay continued benefits and wages for a time frame of 30, 60 or 90 days based on time of service.
That’s no company to work for. Glad I’m out. I’ll spend the rest of my career telling every customer I can the truth about NetApp. The company is not one to work for let alone purchase from.
It seems like that to me too that the company is positioning itself to be acquired, especially with all co-founders re-signing and several key top leadership, all having re-signed over the last couple of months. The question is company would do the purchase?
Turns out the reporting of 2500 laid off was correct. Layoffs from the past two quarters impacted multiple organizations and many legacy leaders have since resigned or been laid off with no replacement named. Sounds to me like we are about to be acquired. Anyone believe the news of this?
Also, although that VP's org might have had 2,200 people, most of those were not PSC.. PS had already shifted to 3rd party companies over the last couple years and had been RIFed in past layoffs, so much of the remaining people on that org were in other types of support roles like tech support.. so the 2,500 getting RIFed is total fabrication.. could be a couple hundred people, but definitely not thousands. NetApp is actually aggressively hiring in the hot areas they want to grow like cloud.. bunch of open reqs they're actively recruiting for..just keeping it real...:)
It's possible that 2200+ are going to be laid off, but it's definitely not true that 2500+ have been let go already since April. That would have a LOT more hallway talk going on than I see in my everyday encounters each workday at NetApp ... that would be 25% of the people gone, and there is now way that many are already gone. How many might be let go in coming months, we'll never know (until time goes by!) 2500+ gone would be the biggest layoff in the company's history and would make more major news, therefore it hasn't happened (yet?)

BINGO with the partners/resellers comment and that is exactly why 2200+ resources are being laid off. The first wave started with Cindy Warner and roughly 250 resources. By the time they are finished it will approach 2500 resources globally. FACT! All I can say is NetApp has a difficult time alone selling their products. If they want to layoff people they should be focused on lazy ignorant sales reps. I predict this will happen too.
Partners = resellers.. the idea is that when NetApp sells product, it does ~60% margins, whereas PS is about 20%.. When partners sell products (switches, servers..), they only make about 5%, but when they do PS, they do 20% (i.e. pay a guy couple hundred $ a day but bill customers a couple thousands). So it ends up being win-win, and the theory is that partners will prefer selling NetApp products knowing they can make $$ implementing those solutions afterwards.
It's a good play on NetApp's part, but it is unfortunate for all the PS guys getting let go..but I'm sure there are plenty of partners that will be looking to hire..
To the previous posters, I'm sorry for the news. Just curious, when you say all PS work is going to partners, what does this mean?

I received my notice today as well. Former PSC. I’m in Austin, TX. I know of five other PSC’s impacted. Rumor is all PS work is going to partners now.
I got my lay off notice today.
Well, I’m out of Sunnyvale and worked remotely for almost four years. I just got laid off today. I’m a former PSC and I was advised that all PS is now going to partners. I’m one of 211 impacted per the paperwork I was given. Sad day.
Let’s just watch the stock continue to fall. That tells the truth more so than any forum. It must s--- to wake up daily and wonder where you will work tomorrow. Thank God it’s not NetApp.
I'm calling shenanigans/troll mode. It doesn't make sense that 2500 badged employees have vanished unless they were predominantly among the non-US locations that were closed.
I can't believe NetApp has laid of 2500+ people just since April - it would be very noticeable. I have not noticed or known of a single layoff, but I do hear that there have been some very small impacts. 2500+ people? That's almost 25% and us employees would sure notice that! I think the 2500+ since April, is not correct info .
And prior to being laid off you spent your career telling everyone how great NetApp was?
